Where can I get a good intense sports/deep tissue massage in Seoul for a good price? I don't want a relaxing, gentle massage. I get lots of tension in my back from exercising and sitting at a desk, so I like to get massages that get rid of the knots in my muscles.
I'm looking for a decent price as well as quality. Any recommendations? |

Well, you're in luck then, because all I've ever found were hard, bruising massages that leave you hurting for a couple days afterward. Even visibly wincing, writhing in pain, and making pained noises don't seem to stop these ajummas from their assault. There are a ton of them in Myeong-dong. Most cater to Japanese tourists, but they also often advertise in won and US dollars on their signs. Just wander around and you'll see massage places on nearly every block (usually on one of the upper stories of a building). Compare prices and avoid barber poles.
The ones in Itaewon cater more towards English speakers, but seemed to be priced a bit higher and there are a lot fewer of them compared to Myeong-dong. |

There's a Mr Kim who has a massage room in Itaewon who specialises in sports/deep tissue massage. Goes under Itaewon Massage Service. 50,000 won for a 100-minute session, or 70,000 for an outcall at your place. Has a licence from the World Naturopathy Association. I've used him a few times for a knee/leg problem. Great English - no problems at all communicating with him. You can text him on 010 4542 6996 for info or appointments. |

Save yourself a ton of cash and buy a foam roller. |

True True on the foam roller.
Also aren't massages paid for in part by insurance? |

Happy ending massages can lead to std's and aids. You have been warned . lots of good places just look around and avoid sketchy parlors which are covers for happy endings. |
