|
|
Several civic groups said yesterday they will join in a candlelight rally tomorrow in central Seoul to protest U.S. soldiers' killing and abuse of Iraqi prisoners. For Friday's rally, various performances to denounce U.S. soldiers' atrocities in Iraq have been prepared, according to the coalition. Several famous singers will also participate. The rallies will continue each week, the groups said.

Damn those pinky farts. Trust the Korean singers to get in on the act. I remember Jang Na Ra laying a reef shortly after the Daegu subway fire. It reeked of ulterior motives. Disgusting. I find it a disgrace that they don't march and protest for Nick Berg who was dicapitated by some nutbars wearing ski masks. The only reason Koreans give a damn about Iraqis is because it's a good excuse to bash the Yanks. If these Iraqis were working in Mr Kim's Gagu kongjang, and being cheated out of money, and being detained by their own dodgy police force, there wouldn't be any protests at all. Hypocritical leaches. |

g-boy,
So no public outcry about the way these prisoners were treated is acceptable? |

Pathetic.
Doubt they'll say a thing about Nick Berg. |

People laugh at me when I tell them that my theories of international relations are based on Thomas Hobbes and his view of humanity as forever in (violent) competition.
And then you get American soldiers torturing Iraqis... Iraqis beheading Americans... and god knows what else in other parts of the world.
World peace? Stop wishing Mrs. America, cause it WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Humans are incapable as a species. |

Of course it is, when their groups have consistently protested about the plight of Iraqis. Did they organise the same protests when Saddam was lowering political opponents in acid? Did they bollocks. Are you really suggesting that they care about the Iraqis? That is why I drew an analogy with the plight of Arab workers who work in the local gagu kongjang. Do protests take place when they suffer atrocious injustices in Korea? Do they hell as like. Even when human rights groups have slammed the treatment of such workers in Korea, it wasn't enough to bring these "moral crusaders" onto the streets then. The only reason these morons come out onto the streets is to get their misguided anti American sentiments some attention from the local media. Oh, they can burn some American flags too can't they? Hypocrasy of the highest order. |

of course they wont say anything about Nic, Koreans were probably happy when they heard that. They won't be too happy if a Korean GI gets their head cut off on video. The news would be playing it forever |

America portrays itself has having a higher standard. It has to live up to this. And the rest of the world can hold them to it. |

What do US atrocities in Iraq have to do with life in South Korea? Why do they care?
Anyone who participates in this rally is a poser.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Protects you. Liberated you. |

Americans can hold themselves to it. You make it sound like the abuses are lauded back in the States. The reality is people are pissed, embarrassed and apologetic. And those who did it will be punished.
I'd like to read it from your own keyboard. Do you and Homer really believe that there is not a segment of the Korean population that revels in any mistake the US makes and will use the mistake as an excuse to bash the USA? Yes or no? Do those people exist in Korea? |

I agree with most here in that America does and should hold itself to a higher standard. Most times throughout the world we do. Does anyone else see any other country getting involved in world matters than us?
Any Korean that protests against us does have the right, but I agree, they are mostly posers who got a bad experience from an 18-year-old kid soldier. |

because major companies here such as samsung, LG, and doosan have a lot of money tied up in the "rebuilding" of iraq.
they may be against the war and atrocities....but they are quick to cash in where there's a profit to be made... |
