What the hell was that?
Did anyone have a WTF moment after watching the final episode of the Dexter series? What a terrible ending. He let's his kid take off to Argentina with his psychopathic killer girlfriend and tries to kill himself in a hurricane but ends up a logging truck driver in Canada or Alaska or wherever that is?!??
It's like the writers just simply gave up on the TV series this season. |

First, I'm sure Dexter is a great show. Haven't watched it, but it's on the list. No disrespect Wyclef.
Not to troll, but I gotta throw this out. Seems like its the Jester's Pies to Taco Bell's Breaking Bad.
17 pages vs. 1. |

I agree, this ending sucked so bad. I was furious, and I rarely care about TV shows and that kind of stuff.
Worst. Ending. Ever. |

| Bill Simmons on Grantland tweeted a couple times about how bad the finale was, and he hardly ever tweets about TV shows. I lost interest in Dexter a couple seasons ago, but a part of me wants to watch the last two seasons just to see how bad it became. |

Same here. The last really good season was the one with John Lithgow (best serial killer ever). The season after that wasn't bad, just not very memorable. I only got one episode into the religiously themed season... when Dexter had his victim on the table screaming about righteousness I just rolled my eyes and turned it off. |

This show is another perfect example of how digital media is affecting the way shows run.
By the time the show gets its "viral" word of mouth kind of thing going and has its highest ratings and download popularity (usually 3-4 seasons in?), it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAY past its creative peak and is just trying to do what it can to hold. I'm so glad I gave up on this show after season 4? 3? Whichever one had Lumen in it.
Prison Break was another great example of this. The first season of PB is awesome, awesome TV but the network wanted to stretch it past the 2nd season and it totally sucked the life out of the show. |

I thought the last two seasons were fine. But they dropped the ball on that finale. |

| I liked the first 5 seasons, season 5 was the one with Lumen in it. Season 6 was just too implausible. Season 7 was OK and Season 8 started out good with Dr. Voegel but they shoehorned Hanna into it and it became a kind of serial killer soap opera. The ending made no sense. |

| Season 4 was Godly, like, literally the best television I have ever seen. (Which admittedly doesn't say much, since I rarely watch TV). |

| I watched the first season, thought it was boring, and stopped there. |

I liked season 2 with Lila the psycho pyro the best...that was Bay Harbor Butcher right?
And John Lithgow as awesome too.
*SPOILER ALERT*
I kind of ...liked the finale. I wasn't expecting him to 'off' himself and I certainly wasn't expecting Deb. I was expecting a sappy happy ending in Argentina.
But yes, implausible. He loves Harrison too much. But....the end I thought: he didn't do follow through because he is karmically destined to suffer for his deeds. And inside he believes that fully. So he stays and lives in self-imposed, isolated misery. |

| Was a weak finale for sure. In their defense the writers did come out recently and say they'd actually planned to kill Dexter in the original script, but when they read it Showtime execs vetoed his death (presumably leaving the door open for a movie) , meaning they had to do a last minute scramble to change the storyline around without destroying too much of the main plot for the season. Having him pretend to be dead ended up being the lame compromise. |

Maybe slight spoiler alert:
I would have changed the ending... have him sail off into the hurricane. Then show some news footage talking about some notorious serial killer having gone awol without explanation or some gang boss disappeared unexpectedly... leave it to our imaginations after that. |

He left his kid in Argentina because he finally realized that he could never have a normal life. His father died because of him, his wife died because of him, and now his sister's life got jacked up and she died because of him. So, he finally decided that he just wasn't going to work out. The riding off into the hurricane wasn't meant as a suicide, just a faking of his death perhaps.
Anyways, it wasn't that good of a finale even if what I said is how they meant the ending to feel like. I was a little bit disappointed still. |
