Anybody know? Usually college age kids working at restaurants and bars to pay for college.

Cant imagine its anywhere close to the 2K/month most ESL teachers here make. But anyone know for sure?

I've taught a lot of college students working these types of jobs. The majority have told me they are making minimum wage.

"Arbeit" jobs, or part-time jobs in stores and restaurants etc, usually pay the same as the government-set minimum wage (4,890 WON per hour).

Depends if they get paid under the table. I know a few students who worked at CVS's and they were making around 1.5-1.7 mil a month. But they worked maybe 60hrs? Always graveyard shift too.

Getting a 7% increase next year to 5,210 / hour.

That's over 10 million a month if they work 2,000 hours!

They don't, they don't pay much more, but the typical one actually seems to be around 6-7,000
there are a couple sites you can check that have jobs listed.
There are some part time jobs which do pay more. Like the people who hand out flyers get 20k/hour but they only get 2 hour stints doing it.

I collect cardboard in my free time (like the old folks in the street).

THAT is where the money is. The price per KG of cardboard has SKYROCKTED in the last 6 months!

I have a 3 bed apt, I use one of the rooms to store the cardboard to stop it getting wet (they won’t accept it wet).

Every few months I take it to the local gu office sorting depot. Last time I got w230,000!

They pay cash too!

Lol

Sorry to do this to you TJ but as an SAT instructor I can't let simple mathematical miscalculations like this slide.

There are only 720 hours in a month. You probably meant 2,000 hours per year. In which case they would make 10 mil, but that's over the course of 12 months not 1.

Wink

Sry. Had to do it. My eyes are just wired to spot these things.

I just looked on Albamon and it does look like most jobs pay between 1 and 1.5 mil/month. Which can't be all that bad for a student who lives at home.

Maybe that's how they afford all those expensive designer label clothes with the label slightly misspelled!

OCC--old corrugated cardboard. There was a time you could make 50K a year collecting this stuff in the U.S. but with recycling those days are over.

What about copper? Probably tough to find in Korea.

You honestly are unsure if a typical NET making the minimum makes as much as someone working part-time at a CVS?
