What would a reasonable salary be without and apartment
and one with an apartment to be able to save 2K us a month?

Taking into account I would be bringing a non-working spouse.

Your spouse won't work? You need to convince your spouse to work 5 days and 3-5 moonlighter hours per week. Then you'll save.

I live with my non-working spouse. My take home each month is 2.9 + 500,000 for housing. I pay 750,000 for rent. We save 1,000,000 a month, but we also have a small side business back home which we run from here that gives us 200,000 or 300,000 extra a month. We really have to scrimp to save 1,000,000. We put 800,000 in long term savings and 200,000 in our "travel savings" for when we want to take a trip every now and then.

lol @ a "clean house."

If by house you mean apartment the size of a child's bedroom then yes, she'll be very busy cleaning your house and cooking you ramen on your propane stove.

You're going to be hard pressed to save 2K a month.

I know a western guy making 2.0 plus housing allowance from a uni and married to a western woman who doesn't work. But they do have two kids. They have their own apartment (villa 3 room), an old car, and a crappy little scooter. I have no idea how they make it, but they do. He doesn't work much with this job. I think they're kind of lazy with no real ambition in life. Though I think he took an online MA just so he could keep his uni job in the future.

so you would need about 45 mil per year with an apartment or so to save about 2K per month. do you know any unis that pay that much? I have an MA TESOL 10 years experience, publications etc... presentations so can go for high end positions.

you're a pig sad to say, as my wife would say "get your own dinner and clean up your own stuff" what is your wife your slave? gmafb

regarding a job, you'll be lucky to make 3.5/gross even with your credentials and forget housing. so forget about saving 2 mill/month

go work in saudi if you want your wife to just cook and clean for you and make that kind of money

The income requirement has already been covered by someone else in this thread but OP, your spouse is your spouse or is she your maid?

If you want to have a decent-sized apartment that is fairly clean and modern along with enough spending money to afford nice meals, new clothes, nights out on the town somewhat regularly, you should make at least 4.0 million won a month. But really, it would be better for you to make around 5.0 million won a month to be sure you always meet your savings goal.

To give you some perspective, let me share my situation. I live with my partner who only has a part-time job at a university. Between the two of us, we make just 8.5 million won a month, which means we struggle a little bit when it comes to saving. Most months, we barely manage to put away more than 4 million won, but no one said life would be easy. Personally, I'd love it if my partner got some sort of full-time job making 3 million won a month or more. Then, we'd earn more than 10 million won a month and save 6 million a month easily.

Frankly, I don't see why having your spouse work a few hours a week would be so detrimental, and it would help you meet your savings goal more easily.

Why don't you get your wife to run some numbers for you? Seems she does everything else.

Funny because less than a year ago on the other site, where they now ban you from writing this kind of crap, you said this

Quote:

I have a Korean girlfriend who works as a university lecturer. She makes
around 4 million won a month. She and I have also invested in stocks, which have given us about 500,000 a month return on average. Together, we make around 12.5 million won a month. But still, I'd like to get into a higher income bracket, as I mentioned above. It's possible to do it as a teacher, but, of course, it's quite difficult.

Sorry to hear your fortunes have dropped so dramatically Laughing Interesting that you live with your Korean GF too, though I'm a bit confused because you mentioned having a wife in other previous posts

e.g this one from Nov 2012

The few times I've caught myself driving around without my headlights on I've always had my parking lights on, meaning that my dashboard was still lit up. But I could see less confident or experienced drivers, such as my wife, concentrating so intently on the road, specifically all the cars darting around it, that they not notice their dashboard lights not being turned on. That's not such a ridiculous conclusion to draw, is it?

Why don't you get another wife that works and the one you have now stays home with a chastity belt?
