Lately the Redskins have been getting a lot of news lately over their team name and mascot. Noted sports anchor Bob Costas, numerous editorial pages of major newspapers, NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell, and even President Barack Obama have all weighed in.

Me personally, I think the name is as outdated as calling a team "The Negroes" or "The Dagoes". You wouldn't say redskins in normal conversation.

I also think the Cleveland Indians should change their logo, which is from the days of Sambo and Charlie Chan.

That being said, not all Native American team names are offensive. Many honor the bravery and spirit of Native Americans, and also pay homage to specific tribes. The Florida State Seminoles even have the official sanctioning of the Seminole tribe, same with the Central Michigan Chippewas. Certainly if they have the support of the tribe and are being held up as examples of bravery like "Vikings" or maybe "Samurai" or "Cowboys", then there is no need for concern.

I want the White Sox to be called something like the Transparent Sox. I grew up as a poor White kid. Aka, Whitey.
