When on the subway or just out and about sometimes old guys will talk to me wondering what I do or where I am from etc. I enjoy talking with them and practicing my Korean but what is with their need to touch me? (PS I am a guy) Is it that they are lonely? Is this Korean style or are they gay? One started rubbing my back, another tried to like hold my hand.

It's a cultural thing. Can be irritating but try not to be offended

I also noticed Korean men, acting even more gay, when they hit the soju.

Next time, just pretend that you're sleeping, when they try to talk to you.

Another trick I used, was to pull out my phone and pretend to take a call, then go sit on another part of the train.

Somehow I can understand the touchy shit when they are drunk. I think some of them get some courage to speak English from Soju. One guy literally jumped/fell over 6 rows of seats when he saw me at a Lions game and would not let me go until he told me every minute detail he knew about MLB history. It's just the sober broad daylight touchiness that creeps me out.

Unfortunately most Korean ways of being friendly are either obnoxious or offensive to people from the rest of the world.

Korea has serious etiquette problems that it is not even aware of.

Very socially awkward at times.

Another thing, there's a newbie-ometer. These random flies that bother us on the streets/subway/bus, etc, can sniff out a newbie from a looooooooong way's away. Shocked

My first year, I was continually ambushed (coz I looked like a fresh faced newbie). After that, I was totally left alone. Laughing

This explains those rowdy attitudes among Korean-American tourists in Montreal. Confused

Korean women do the same to me and everyone thinks I'm a liar or a troll. Koreans like to talk to people they think are beautiful.

I think most American tourists in Montreal have this problem. No fucking manners. And I say this as an American.
