So 500 years of colonialism, slavery, and the rape, theft, and murder of indigenous peoples should be washed away with "move on and grow up".
Isn't that just what people said over those 500 years to each new tribe they encountered, shortly before screwing them over?
Not saying that's the case here in Korea (Middle East is much more like it), but the reputation out there ain't the best, and it continues in various forms to this day.
Remember there are TENS, maybe HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people still alive who lived in a country that was a colony or went through Jim Crow. India gained independence in 1947, Korea 1945, Vietnam and Indochina, 1954. Africa 1950s-70s. TransJordan, island nations, etc.
Sorry, but I don't think those now elderly folks who endured that and fought for their independence and rights are the ones that need to be told to "grow up and move on".
I do think the one the person that tosses out bombs like that might be the one that needs to "grow up". |

I don't know, why do people bring up other countries when they are making negative comparisons about Korea to them? Why don't you take issue with that?
For some posters, they feel that bringing up other countries should be fine when showing Korea in a negative light, but not in a positive one. Clearly, bringing up other countries isn't the issue, their issue is that you shouldn't disagree with them or be allowed to weaken their claim. Ironically, they are some of the loudest voices about "fairness".

| I'm not a grammar Nazi at all, but it does seem rather ironic when people start threads in order to pour scorn on Koreans and they misunderstand a very basic part of their native language. My middle school students all know how to use an apostrophe correctly. |
