|
|
I've used reach to teach as my recruitment agency, and they work at a fairly fast pace that I like. They said they wouldn't waste their time if they didn't think their candidate was a suitable match. They hooked me up with an Avalon school, and I got to the interview, but I failed. It's very frustrating, because Avalon doesn't tell you why they don't accept you. This was my first interview, and I was a little disappointed, because they explained Avalon to be the epitome of employment for teaching newbs and reach to teach made me feel very confident in applying for the position. Particularly with my mock interview.
Would I usually expect to succeed in my first interview?
(or)
Do I seriously need to re-evaluate my demeanor in interviews?
I guess I'd like to know why people don't get it and I'm just pissed that they don't say why.

I think he got "exceed" and "succeed" mixed up...same with "should" and "would"....and "of" and "off." |

Grammar Nazi HO!
He/She also mixed up their use of restrictive relative pronouns :p
On a side note, or main note I guess, how does one fail an interview with Avalon? They will take just about anyone with a pulse. OP, I would imagine it has something to do with you age/looks rather than what you said. Unfortunately, those qualities hold quite a bit more weight in entry level jobs in Korea than they should. |

+1
In addition: If you are an african, don't think it is your skin colour. So what Avalon don't want you. Keep trying, you'll get something. |

Does it actually count as grammar when someone uses the wrong word entirely? |

This. If OP has difficulty with word choice then maybe it came out during his interview. Or as a previous poster pointed out, your looks can unfortunately be a deal breaker.... |
