Korea is trying to emulate the Finns,. They were going to put a club in but according to an article that I translated from Finnish to English the Finnish clubs resented it so, the Halla conglomerate bought a team in the same league and will put Koreans on it.

"
As Yle news about sports in the summer, ice hockey Mestis during the period 2013-2014 shows a strong korealaisväriä. When Mestis clubs resistance brought down the original plan, the South Korean company of its own Mestis, the project behind the conglomerate, Halla Group acquired a majority stake Puck-Vantaa.

Majority of the shares to ensure Korean control of team affairs. Puck-Vantaa was appointed Managing Director in the past, including the 1990s, lynx managing director Kai Chord, which has been the South Korean Mestis behind the project from the beginning.

Puck-Vantaa team will be a significant number of Korean players, but also for Finnish players will continue to play in salmon shirts.

The project is based on the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, to be held in South Korea. The host venue Olympic ice hockey is not sure, so the level of ice hockey in Finland, an attempt to improve co-operation. Korealaispelaajia was HCK and at disc-coulter already this season.

Puck-Vantaa will continue to head coach of the 35-year-old Pekka Kangas Format. Other coaching team will be announced later in the spring, when the team informed of the player contracts. " ( google translation )

Why? It would be pointless.

I would only take pride if Canada managed to beat Korea in a sport we suck in. Like soccer.

I think if MLS Toronto were to take on a K-League team it would be competitive.

Baseball and basketball: sort of competitive. Not the Blue Jays or Raptors or Grizzlies but Canadians only teams.

Lacrosse and Canadian-football: forget it.

Volleyball: I don't know. What do you think?

Boxing, gymnastics, track and field, wrestling: Korea lose.

Judo, Taekwondo, Karate: toss up.

Archery, rifle and pistol shooting: Korea win.

Winter Olympic sports: Korea lose and that includes curling.

Chess and Go: Korea win.

Body-building: Korea lose.

Ten-pin bowling: toss up.

Rugby: Korea lose.

Fishing: home-field advantage

Poker: Bring it on! Laughing Laughing

Baseball - toss up
Basketball - Canada (Koreans just aren't aggressive enough, seen it first hand with American football)

I'd say Korea.

Boxing - toss up (remember it's divided by weight class)
Gymnastics - toss up
Wrestling - toss up (again weight class)

I wonder why Korea hasn't thrown some money at curling? The Chinese and I believe the Japanese women have won world championships in curling.

Why don't people bother to play curling? Can't imagine why.

Look, I'm sure curling would be great fun over beers/others but come on, do we really need to think hard about an answer to that question?

Actually, if you look at the last winter Olympics, it's become the new hipster thing for young Olympians. Look at some of the hair/facial hair/team uniform styles from the last winter games.

But, yeah, I do agree with you that it would be best if played with a few pitchers of beer.

You do realize that the Chinese and Japanese have fielded competitive curling teams in the last few winter Olympics and World Championships? Just wondering why Korea hasn't joined in...

Canada beats US in World Junior Football Championship. We'll send our cornfed praire boys and poutine fed quebec players. I presume you didn't know about Canada defeating the US in the world juniors, eat that creampuff. 2013 NBA 1st pick overall was Canadian and Canadian Wiggins will be #1 overall in 2014.

God, please let the US play Canada in North American football.

I presume you were looking forward to your home country beating up on a creampuff country that you have lived to and feel somewhat ostracized in as a way to earn vicarious glory through the achievements of one your nations sports teams. Maybe looking to brag about it?

Well, lets play you in football and turn our cornfed Nebraska boys and Memphis homies on you. Or maybe basketball and have Steve Nash and 4 scrubs take us on.

Have Canada face Korea in short track speed skating. A sport which both nations excel at. Respect to the winner of that either way. But the Korean hockey team makes the Jamaican Bobsled Team look competitive. No glory in smashing country's teams in sports they barely participate in.

There is a strong possibility the NHL won't send players for the 2018 Olympics in Korea. They are stating up they World Cup of Hockey to try t9 replace the Olympics.

Why is the International Federation of American Football's headquarter in France? Same with the International Baseball Federation. All the sports federations are in France...
