So, long time reader, first time poster, one year teacher in Gangnam.
My sports club [Four Seasons Water Park] in Wangsimni may well be closing soon, at least that is the rumor. I know there are many gym rats herabouts and the forum seems to be helpful for this sort of thing, so: would anyone be so kind as to suggests sports clubs/gyms that have an indoor poor in Seoul?
I've searched high and low, and have found (in my neck of the woods) only a cost prohibitive club (30 mil won deposit + 400,000 monthly membership...and this for only a four lane!) and community centers, which in my experience as a swim rat are touch and go with water cleanliness. I'm finding the search difficult to say the least. So is there a happy medium? Any swimmers here who can help? Thanks! |

Sports Complex pool is much nicer than Olympic Park pool; olympic park pool has never been renovated since the olympics in 87, sports complex pool is much cleaner and newer (well, it looks much cleaner).
Website is korean only: http://stadium.seoul.go.kr/lecture/lecture_03_01.html
The trick is to enroll for "lessons", I hear it's around 85,000 for 6 days a week, and you can choose beginner, intermediate or advanced. My understanding is you're just swimming laps anyway and the lanes are much less crowded.
You could also just get a membership for the 2 membership lanes, which can become crowded as their maximum is 30 people per lane, at a cost of 120,000 a month.
Also, Sigma Club has a pretty nice looking pool, and it's not nearly as expensive as the prices you mentioned: http://sigmagreen.com/
(Sigma is in Jamsil diagonally across from Lotte World Hotel, right next to Jamsil station)
Forgot, one more!!! There's Songpa YMCA across from Lotte Mart, Jamsil station. They have a pool. I can't find a website for them though. |

Thanks so much for the info ladies and gentlemen, on to find my next pool!
Also, for what it's worth, I can confirm that Four Seasons Water Park is without question shutting down, for good, by December 13. The gym and possibly the jimjilbang, however, will remain open. |
