at least your kids got to give u something, the owner of my school told all the parents to not give anything and if they do the teacher would be giving it back. I guess it makes sense for a school who has a rule that the korea teachers who teach english science math and history arent allowed to talk to each other in the staff room.

Korea shocks me more each day

What's the rationale there?

My kindergarten students gave me socks, a key chain, a picture frame, a coffee cup, scented candles, and a rose. Kindergarten students are great!

This has got to be a joke! A darned funny one though!

Hope you were careful and didn't receive any "gifts that keep on giving" from that girl.

I got loads of present for teachers day. Here is an inventory.

A quite nice PUMA T-shirt, though it is the Italian one rather than the British flag flavour.

2 * shower gel thingies.

Loads of expensive chocolate, I dont much eat chocolate much but my GF loves chocolate so I'll give her some, but not enough to qualify her to appear on fatchicksinpartyhats.com.

The best one, one of my kids gave me a flowerpot, pencil holder thingumijig type thing which he actually made himself with his name and the date he made it. It's pretty cool in a rustic 13 yr old craftsperson type of way. A great gift and I'll be nicer to from now on even though he is a ckeeky little (S*__) monkey!

I also got soap and to the poster who worried about that being an insulting ('gee I must be smelly') gift dont worry! Last year I got nothing but body cleaning products, it is just a popular thing to give to English teachers here, I guess we all must smell.

The 2nd best thing I got was one of my students parents who observed my lesson earlier telling me "You're doing a great job" He went on to give me a nice big present, the guy about the same age as myself and fluent in English was wonderful. I had always wondered why Ryan (English name) was one of my nicest kindies, now I know why, he has a really nice supportive dad.

My third best gift was a big 2.4 KG jar of honey. Honey is not cheap in Korea and it must have set them back a bit. I dont know how I'm even going to get through that much honey! I guess I'll probably do what I did with all the bars of soap I got last year and give it away to my GF's family or other people who dont get to enjoy teachers day, like my local homeless community.

Sorry that some of you didn't get nice teacjers day gifts but it must mean you are cra* teachers. Only joking of course, how appropriate for teachers day to be a Saturday, best day of the week for most English teachers here!

I did the opposite. Today I bought an entire class choco-pies. They flipped out. Then after work, I was walking to the bus near Seohyun station, when 6 of my 1st-year girls spotted me and ran to me yelling my name. They asked me what I was doing there, and I said, "getting ice cream from McDonalds."

I bought them all a cone for 300 won each (chocolate was gone... darn).

I recieved a marriage proposal from one girl, and was told, "I love you" over and over again.

When I reminded her that she had a boyfriend (I hear all about him from her) she said, "he won't mind!"

Cute kids.
