In Sept. I started an after school position. I was in Korea when I was hired.

For 3 days I need to be there from 2-6 and 2 days from 1-6.

I get 2.3 plus housing with health and pension compliance.

I didn't think much of it but many expats I meet tell me they have tried to get after school gigs (they were also job hunting while being in Korea) and have not been able to.

Are after school jobs REALLY sought after that much?

Feedback appreciated....thanks in advnace.

Other than your lack of holidays, that sounds very good.

I used to do an after school gig like that.

I got real bored though having to do everything myself and having no-one to socialize with. Its nicer to work at a place with a few coworkers.

Sounds like a pretty decent gig just on hours alone. I can see where some people would be envious. I'm pretty content where I am.

For people that can't break into university level, after school programs are often the best. If you have a good co-teacher, who is in the classroom with you, then you are sorted.

Dude that is an awful job. Give me 500,000 and I will finish your contract for you. Instead you can work my 9-6:30 that pays 2.2.

You are saying it is awful but offering to finish the contract? Shocked

What exactly would you get paid 500,000 for? 1 week? If so, that would be 2.0. You prefer that over 2.2?

I am being sarcastic.

500,000 is the fee I am charging him to rid him of his "misery".

You need more English lessons from Sean Connery. You are not the man yet.

Or maybe you need to tell better jokes.

Obviously detecting sarcasm isn't a strong point for him. Then again, what is?

Pretty standard ASP except for the money. They usually pay 3.1 or 3.2. So, no, you're not that lucky.

2.3 + 500 thousand Won for housing is 2.8

The OP's pay is only a bit off. But I wouldn't like the job because of the way they might pay him(special bank account?) and he'll be considered an Independent contractor. That's okay if he's on an F visa but supposedly E-2's aren't allowed to be according to Immigration. Thing is the tax gov't office doesn't care, he is what his employer(public gov't school) says he is.

Still time for the kids to get bored of you, complain to their mothers and then you'll be gone like a hot rock!

I hope they have fun in your lessons (and hopefully learn a bit too)

Another top tip: I suggest you try speaking to yourself in the mirror.

The big benefit of afterschool positions is that you can do privates pretty easily since morning and late evenings are free
