Gwangyu in the south or the one near Seoul???

I am having long term treatment for just about every procedure u can imagine and love my dentist. Not at the cheapest end of the fee scale (he is based in Gangnam, Seoul and trained in America) but totally worth it.

There is no price high enough for me to have someone who knows what they are doing and is both fluent in English and a kind person too.

Think the prices are decent compared to the UK. I am not even sure I could get dental treatment there without registering for one of the expensive insurance schemes. Been away so long am a bit out of touch but have heard it is very expensive.

So gold caps are more expensive than white caps?? If you have white caps, they just look like your natural teeth right? I'm probably just confused, but why pay more to look like a rapper like Lil'John?

I also have to find a dentist, so please straighten me out.

Gold is more expensive because gold is expensive!! Duh?

Besides - in/on your teeth it is safer, lasts longer and doesn't crack.

I am not worried about having gold teeth - they are all at the back on my mouth - so nobody sees them - unless I rudely yawn very very widely?

Found a good dentist in Yongin for general stuff, but I'm going to go to Gangnam to get 3 expert implants and 2 crowns for about 7.2M .

Try a few for check-ups, I went to some wanting to do work which wasn't really required. I even had one hi-tech dentist who was too desperate to get a new patient that he tried to give me an anaesthetic injection in an infected gum. Pain had me screaming like marathon man/wee girl.

Dentists see my mouth and think, "cash-cow".

Finding a decent or professional dentist totally depends upon your location, dentist's location, your expected cost and type of treatment that you want and that you need.

Here's the answer. Let me just first say I was in the field for 20 years, so ....
Although porcelain crowns can be made to blend naturally they are also very abrasive on opposing dentition. Especially if there were adjustments at the fitting stage. Gold is the standard for conservative dentists.

For a while people were drilling out their amalgams and replacing with porcelain inlays. I used to do that work when dentists wanted it, but I have gold inlays since gold makes for a better seal (when made right).

As for Korean dentists and technicians. I am not so impressed but I am sure there are some excellent ones to be found. I think it was 3 years ago the dental license was changed to require 4 years study as required in the USA (before then it was a 2 year study-least that is what i was told). Japan and Germany were renowned for their technicians but I'm not sure what has been happening lately. My experiences in Korea have not been good but I have been to so few that could just be my bad luck. I think the pal-e-pal-e attitude and good dental work are at opposites though. Russia is also not known for its technical prowess in dental appliances (Jaws in 007?).

No. I actually owned my own lab and was quite successful.

Were you joking or do you doubt successful people might want to teach English?

Yes, I truly believe you were a waterpik salesman for 20 years.
