|
|
I guess it would technically be the "F-5-A".
http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/en/info/popup/icis/3-4-2_pop.htm
Can anyone verify this? I would study my arse off and become a freaking Korean language master. I gave up studying the language awhile back because the point system made it virtually impossible for a guy my age to get the F-2 without marriage and at that time the only way to an F-5 was three years on an F-2.
I would dearly love the chance to leave the yoke of indentured servitude which is the E-2 visa after my eight long years of service to the wretched system. |

You have all of this?:
Quote: |
(E-2)
Criteria · Yearly income should be more than 3 times of last year's GNI per capita by the Notification by the Bank of Korea
· Level 3 or higher in Korean language test by KICE(Korea Institute for Curriculum & Evaluation)
Required documents · degree
· Withholding slip of earned income or certificate of income
· A written recognition for Korean language test |
The income part would be tough, especially as Korean incomes keep rising each year (as native teacher incomes fall). What is the South Korean GNI this year? Last year it was $31K. Do you make $93,000 a year on your E-2, OP? (And by the time you were done studying korean, you'd need a little more.)

Boy have you been out of it.
There's a new F-299 for the last year or so which takes in account 5-years of verifiable work experience in place of the point system.
There might be some savings requirement as well.
I could qualify but I got tired of the monoculture, boring women and cold winters. It was off sunnier pastures. |

It's only possible in theory. No scummy English teachers need apply. It's there to make the powers that be look good. Occasionally one might sqeek through the cracks, but most of us will be blocked at the gate. I believe ttompatz was declined when he went for his too. |

If you have the points F2 you can get an F5 after 3 years. You need to make double Korea 's per-cap gdp : about 52 million. |

I think you can get one like the soccer coach did years ago- just help the Korean Reds to enough World Cup Wins and they will give you citizenship. |
