This is my first Christmas in Korea and was wondering how busy and what nights are good to go out around Christmas/New Year time as in the UK I am used to going on a lot at this time. Also as a Scot I am wondering is New Years Eve decent anywhere in Seoul? Thanks in advance guys.

Itaewon will be very crowded on Christmas. But New Year's Eve and New Year's Day will be nuts.

I remember in the 1990s when places in Seoul on Xmas and New Year's Eve had a "holiday" menu of jacked up prices. I wonder if that happens anymore.

It'll be packed. If possible, avoid the buses and take the subway. Traffic is a bitch on NYE.

I went out on a Christmas Eve in Hongdae about 3 or 4 years ago. It was EMPTY. It would have been more fun in a library. I don't know what it's like nowadays.

New Years Eve in Hongdae was busy though.

Christmas Eve in Korea is associated with couples. Young men know their ladies are socially-obligated to put out, so they rush out to find love motels for the night - despite the 300% price increase laid down by canny motel owners.
Santa is definitely not the only one emptying his sack on Christmas Eve.
