I have visions of them barricading themselves inside their houses, using boxes of Ramen!

Experts say that most Korean working holidaymakers have physical jobs in farms and factories due to the language barrier. Some of them work at restaurants and cafes run by Korean immigrants there which do not require a good command of English.

Australian police charged a 28-year-old Korean man surnamed Hwang with his murder.

Ah. So the murderer was not an australian, but a man by the name of 'Hwang".

Kim had reportedly vanished after he went out to exchange AU$15,000 for Korean won before returning home, according to the Brisbane Times.

Exchanging money on the black market with shady Koreans is probably not advisable.

Kim worked to save money as do many Koreans with the visas who work in menial jobs there.

Yeah and so does every other nationality on working holiday visas.

It's sad this happened to this young guy, but you do have to question the wisdom of advertising such a large amount of money to trade for foreign currency on a website. And all to probably save around $100, if that.

I notice the article didn't mention Korean nationals paying their countryfolk well under the award rate (which is illegal) to work in their restaurants and other businesses. With most Koreans in Australia not speaking English well enough to get a job anywhere they want, they end up working for $7-10 under the award with expats from their country. As a result, they take the option of working in factories or doing cleaning jobs, which means early starts and putting themselves in dangerous positions (like the poor girl who was murdered a month back).

Interestingly, the mother of the guy who murdered her was an ESL teacher. Don't let that tidbit of information loose in the Korean media though! haha
