Imagine this situation: you're 23 years old and on your first esl job, a few years outta uni.
All the foreigners you've worked with have run away and you're a month shy of completion of contract.
There's you and a new guy who wants to run. You're pretty happy as you have a gf with her own apartment and a decent group of friends. You also have no money for airfare anyway.
The other guy wants you to run to finish the school. What would you do?

Well first I'd stop letting some new guy pressure me in to leaving. Then I'd go find my balls and put them back in and decide what's best for me.

Don't trust other native teachers at hagwons. If he wants to run then he can run. He doesn't need you to do it.
If you're in your 11th month then finish the contract. For all you know that other teacher is trying to get you to run to save the school severance money and a flight ticket home. Yeah, some native teachers do sell themselves out and you along with them like that.

If you have a diploma then get a better job when you're finished. But finish your contract and get your money.

Well I did the runner... Kind of. The school called me but I didn't answer and I stayed at my gfs place in seoul until I had to leave. My parents had to send me the money to live off and also for the air ticket.

Nice. Parents come in handy once in awhile don't they?

The school wanted me back even when I was back home. Funnily enough I didn't want to run off!

So why did you run?
Was it a terrible place to work? Were they shafting you? A bunch of dicks?
It sounds like there wasn't much of a problem.

There were no midnight snacks available in his dorm room. Maybe.

If I was a month away from completing a contract, I'm pretty sure I would've completed it because of the severance pay and airfare, especially if you're having to bum money from your mom and pops. What was wrong with the school? Was it Wonderland or something? Even with Wonderland, I would've hung in for one more month if I had already put in 11.

In this thread back in July 2013, Youngben88 talks about being in Korea "years back as a naive 22 year old."

Would I be able to return?
Is there any way to check?

Now he's 23 and on his first esl job and 11 months in to his contract despite asking for advice about coming back to Korea a mere 6 months ago.

You'll also remember this was the guy who "got arrested for touching a girl in a bar". He also just happened to join Dave's at the same time as IPIC and just after Dodge7 got banned.

All runners are assholes....sorry but you're a bitch if you run. Not because of the Korean ownership but you pretty much *beep* over the other foreign teachers.

If you can't hack it in korea then you can't hack it anywhere and will most likely be a failure at life.

Teachers who continue working under deplorable conditions are screwing over other foreign teachers worse than the ones doing runners.

Good call. I thought there was something familiar about this twit. The thread should have ended with this, but of course not in Dave's land.
