"Majority" might be taking things a little far. They certainly wouldn't be a rarity, myself often included. |
majority, meaning more than half, yes. I see people in t-shirts and shorts at important cultural events. I see women wearing hardly anything on top on the subway. What is the word we hear on AFN? Practice good OBSECs. something about respecting the customs of the country we are in. |
I believe OPSEC is Operations Security. How does this relate to my conduct as an English teacher here? |

They tell us to not cause too much of a distraction for our own security and because we represent our respective countries. |

I'm fearing for my life because I didn't shave this morning and my shirt isn't ironed. Mr. Paul Martin will be so disappointed in me. |

A Korean man would more likely attack or verbally abuse a unshaved foreigner in a t-shirt over a foreigner in a suit.
Safety is not just about your personal safety. Everything we do leaves impressions on Koreans, which affects how they behave toward us. |

I've wore a shirt and tie to work at my first job here. It hasn't been necessary since. I've never had a violent encounter with a Korean even though I am out in a t-shirt and shave every other day a lot of the time. (3 years) |

And some men have more style than many women, especially the let-it-all-go image of many Western women in Korea. |
Gotta say, little dissapointed. I didn't expect you to buy into the stereotypes. I think people here dress much the same as people of a similar age in their home countries. |
Huh? I call it as I see it. Maybe my experiences would be different in the big cities. The only stereotype I see walking around is the well-dressed Korean next to the beach bum foreigner. And I by no means think it's universal, but it is a common contrast I do see in many smaller southeastern cities and towns.
Again, Who cares? |

That's so true.
Each of us personally represents not only our nation of origin, but also the state, county, city, neighborhood, family, and ultimately the very loins from which we sprang. Dress nice son, make momma proud. |

What I wear is not one of the choices.
I go to class in jeans, a black pair of Nikes, a button down shirt and tie. |
