Really? I have never heard anyone speak well of it. The lifers can't wait to retire. But they do get that nice pension. They better hurry because the US govt wants to up the retirement requirements. And of course the dead ones or brain damaged ones can't speak badly of the military. Anyone joining the US army in this day and age needs to have their head examined.

okay dude that last line is a bit extreme, don't you think?

I'm not American, I'm Canadian but to be soooo massively hateful towards one group of people for their job... there's plenty of reason to join the army man. you don't need to be so darn prejudicial.

it's a pretty decent living for someone with just a high school diploma. i wouldn't hate. you get treated pretty well too, ever work for a Korean company? more freedom as a soldier haha

not the life for me but i don't feel there's a legitimate reason to hate on them either. how woudl you feel if people looked at you as an English teacher and thought you are substantially beneath them?

According to this chart a private (E-1) starts at $1532 per month but could be earning up to $5674 after 20 years of service. Of course, officers earn more.

They get benefits like subsidized housing and if they live in a foreign country their children can attend school on base in English for free.

I've known a few people in the military and it seems to have worked out well for them. By the time they are 40, they can retire on half pay and get free health care at any US military base in the world.

Where did I say I thought soldiers are beneath me or that I hate them? I feel sorry for those guys. Many have done multiple tours in Iraq and Trashcanistan. That's not right. Post traumatic stress disorder, high suicide rates, family break down all because of extended tours. Stop Loss. Terrible VA medical care when they get hurt or come back home. And this is all if they aren't killed in action for some unnecessary, adventurist war run solely for the benefit of American elites. And to top it all off, congress is grumbling now about drastically decreasing retirement benefits. So yes I think it is foolish for someone to join the US military these days.

This is incorrect. For bases in the US, medical care for retirees is on a space available basis. For bases overseas, medical care is not provided to retirees unless the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) permits it and then only on a space available basis.

It does not matter; you pay for it one way or another, either by hookers or marriage. Marriage just makes it "legal."

And then when the divorce comes along.......you're paying again!

The vast majority of these gals hooking are NOT being forced to do so...sure...a few have pimps or own loan sharks money...but for the most part....they do so of their own free will and the most important reason of all...MONEY!

Even if/after they achieve success in the limelight, they are still hookers...but way more expensive.

All this is part of an effort to crack down on the widespread problem of sexual assaults within the military. There was 2012 documentary about it:
Quote:
Following its release, The Invisible War was heralded for exposing a culture of widespread sexual harassment and sexual assault at Marine Barracks Washington.[5][7][8] In March 2012, eight women, including two who appeared in the film, filed suit against military leaders for maintaining an environment that tolerates rapists while silencing survivors.[9]

Somehow spending time in juicy bars makes you more likely to rape your fellow soldiers when you get back to base:

Quote:
Robert Woltman, a 51st Security Forces Squadron investigator, said,

"They’re selling women for companionship. They are selling time with females, which is leading to sexual assaults down the road. That environment is moving on base."

So that's why they're sensationalizing the juicy bar issue now.

I just found out there is a full sex bed down brothel like four blocks from me for One hundred fifty thou...…. No I did not go pay that to make some poor kgirl sadder but I think they are Korean not nonkoreans. I always saw strange funny cute kids hanging out by there smoking who ignored me when I said hi. But yes Korea is full of *beep* houses in the open I have no idea how they defend against the po!ice I guess they claim the beds are for massage or something. I did get a Sports massage that was one hundred percent ligit and at no time did the woman ask for extra or try some grabbing so yes in Korea you can go to sports massage places but at the same time they do have complete Lil house of whores Texas style. But in the USA it is just more under cover whwere you just do a credit card payment and meet the Craig's list girl- ala Craig's list killer I saw on twenty twenty... Never even knew what Craig's list was before that.

I don't know the PI lady was kind of foolish she should know if she is not a pro singer that chances are they just want to sell her body in some nasty juice bar. So I kind of doubt she did not guess at the thing or she is just really really dumb. Last vacation going country cheap local talked to a cute teen on a bus in the phillipinez and she already knew and agreed with me about being careful getting out of country jobs and she was maybe sixteen talking about china work. So I don't know if I buy the innocent of the real job she claims, but then again maybe she was just a very sweet kind girl who would never imagine people would trick her some of these se Asia countries the estimate is one in four bar girls has HIV or some other thing to get you. So you should be like me and just date high class surf girls and kangnasm babes which one of I need to marry soon.

It's pretty funny all the guys in this thread harping on the making money aspect of prostitution, no doubt to justify to themselves that it's ok to use hookers.
