I just had this experience arriving in Incheon with a folding knife, Spyderco Tenacious. From Sypderco's website it states a blade length of 3.39" or 8.6cm. Well it was too long for Korea's customs and I surrendered it to them. It was in my checked in bag and I was wondering why my bag would not come out to baggage claim. It was because they x-ray all incoming bags and they put a HUGE padlock on my bag with an electronic alarm that beeps to notify staff there to inspect my bag. Well I surrendered it without issue and was on my way.
Just sharing my experience with you so maybe you can avoid a similar situation. |

So what is the verdict on a leatherman? I know the blade is longer than 6cm, probably closers to 3.5 inches. |

Think of this - just because you can download tv shows/movies via torrent and other file sharing programs does not mean it is legal. The IP are not blocking, you never get a letter to stop mean you are free to do it.

Actually, a few of my friends here, in the US, did receive several letters for downloading torrent movies. |

That is the US. This is Korea. The analogy was to show that not getting caught for something, does not mean it is alright.
A NSET can very easily carry a knife or leatherman and have no troubles. I have before carried pocket knives.
Even so that me and other people might not ever get caught till know, does not mean that later we will not get in trouble if we get caught. |

I tried to declare my approximately 3 inch blade swiss army knife and the customs agent just gave me a look like I was being stupid, and said it was no problem, with an air of "Why are you bothering me with this trifle of a so called weapon?" |

OK ok all right only the One over the East Sea knows how many men Have fallen under my Call For Fire I AM SMAUG and my Breath DEATH.
but coming to you from the view of a man on the street, Perhaps there was a time a young man went about Armed and bloody warrior minded when he was unleashed for liberty into the soft civilian lands. But, in time and ages it was decided that killing one attacker with his blade and then another only to be slain by a third with his own wrested knife was foolish. Best you come to Korea with two or three nice cans of mace use them carelessly and freely than flee they can do no lasting harm and it may be a dog has tasted such user a fat fleet rolling hand.
Seriously with most fight stories here it is almost always a fat teacher getting beat down by five or six drunk Koreans so really u can hardly hope to kill six men well ok maybe if you had a long sword spiked armor and a razor shield and your name was the sherder... But yeah only case I k ow where that was mmmmmmmm well no can't share scout stories.... |
