Are you male or female? If you're male, shaving your head is an option that would resolve the issue. It also resolves other issues such as dandruff.
If you go to the doctor, I would advise to go to a different part of town in order to keep your employer and co-workers from finding out about it. If they do, you might suddenly find yourself being considered dirty and disposable. |

Don't think worst case scenario...It's probably just dry scalp. Buy you some head and shoulders dry scalp shampoo or any shampoo that helps with dry scalp. |

Don't listen to this. Where in the world does someone come up with the idea that shaving your head relieves dandruff? ... Speechless.
As far as an itchy scalp goes, if you can rule out dandruff as inconsistent with your symptoms then make sure you are using conditioner often to moisturize the scalp. You can google different ways to moisturize the scalp but I find often using conditioner to be the easiest, most convenient, and effective. |

I have battled dry scalp (dandruff) for years. I agree with this post. If it is indeed dry scalp and not lice you can try Head and Shoulders (which does not work for me) or go to the pharmacy and ask for Nizoral shampoo (About 10k for a small bottle: Nee-jo-lel). I would also recommend really massaging your head and drying your hair with a hair dryer after your finished. |

My building has hard water, and it results in dry skin. Especially in winter dry skin is a problem. If you wash your hair every day, maybe try skipping a day. |

Move to a more humid climate like Jeju. The water is softer and the humidity will reduce dry skin and dry scalp. |

It's a pungent process, but try a vinegar rinse a couple of times a week and see if that helps. We live in a very dry climate and have this same problem.
I use two or three tablespoons for a cup of water and rub it into my scalp then rinse well (after shampoo but before conditioner). |

Whenever I have hair, I have to constantly battle dandruff with medicated shampoos daily. And it's especially difficult in Korea because Head & Shoulders is the only dandruff shampoo I see sold. Rotating shampoos (Head & Shoulders, Selsun Blue, T-Gel, Nizoral, etc.) works so much better than using the same brand consistently.
When I shave my head, I don't have dandruff at all. After shaving all of my hair off, I initially have patches of dandruff, but within 48 hours it's 100% cleared up, the scalp is finally healthy, and the dandruff never comes back again unless I grow the hair out again.
I'm not the only person who experiences this effect. Several men in this two page thread say the exact same thing. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=132824673&page=1
Have you actually experienced dandruff with a shaved head? |

it can be dry hair as some have said but also if you leave hair product in your hair for too long it can get itchy.
whenever my head gets too dry from the dry winters here i just go and get a treatment done at the stylist. good as new after for a while. |

I no nothing about where salmon type women with itchy scalp go. I used to have dry skin issues in Seoul for years and they went away when I moved to Jeju. |

true enough, that does work temporarily.

Thanks for the idea. Seems to have had some effect. Apparently it rebalances the PH of your scalp.
I never had so many skin issues until I lived in Seoul.
Probably a mixture of extremely dry air, hair products containing damaging chemicals (such as ethanol) and filthy air contaminated with industrial chemicals. |

You would think one of the amateur hair stylists responding here would realize what the real problem is--pollution from China.
So at the very least always carry an umbrella lest a single drop of contaminated rain falls on your hair and begins to destroy it.
For real though, iHerb has lots of great all-natural moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. Give 'em a whirl. |
