Hi all,
I just had an hour long skype interview with the main HR recruiter from intra-education. It seemed to go well and he seemed really invested in getting me a good offer. I've read that these recruiters can be like used car salesmen, so I'm weary of how great he seemed. First off, does anyone have experiences with him as a recruiter and can possibly fill me in on some things to be aware of during this process? (note: I am still going to use other recruiters to find a school, but just wondering about jeremy on top of this)
Also, I was under the impression that NO FBI channellers are accepted by immigration, so I submitted directly to the FBI and have to wait a while. He urged me to use http://www.nationalbackgroundcheck.com/fbi-channeling.htm, saying that 5 of his most recent recruits got the CBC through this channeller with no problems. What do you all think of that?
Also--one more question--he also told me that, because schools start in March that I would need to go out there the last week of February. Is this true? I want to take my time to make sure I get a good school and a solid contract so I don't want to feel pressured to have to work with such a rapid time frame like this. Especially if my CBC takes a longer time than I would hope--are my chances of finding a school going to be lower after march??
All of your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

You might want to remove the dude's name from your post. Site admin here is understandably touchy about having real names, especially given the particulars of Korean slander/libel laws. |

If they reject your CBC, that may be it for you ever coming to Korea to teach. |

If you haven't already requested a CBC the chances of you making it over here by the end of next month are very, very slim. |

I'd also love to hear more if anyone got their CRC accepted with that channeler. They say their results can be apostilled, and that seems to be the key.
Hate to put this back on the original poster, but maybe you could ask the recruiter for the emails of a couple of the people who got accepted with those results and check and post back.
This is really huge news because everything on this forum has always been that a channeler cannot be used for the CRC (only for the apostille). This could cut 6-8 weeks off everyone's CRC check time if it is true. |

Everything I've read recently has said you cannot use a channeler. Now I'm sure someone has gotten a CBC done in California and slipped through the cracks BUT you'll be taking a big risk.
Your criminal background check must be issued directly by the FBI. Background checks issued by independent organizations (even FBI-approved channelers) will not be valid.
http://koreanowconsultation.com/visaresources/fbi-background-check/
Type of Check: All Americans must submit national level criminal record checks from the FBI - no exceptions. Note: State level CRC’s are no longer accepted.
IMPORTANT: Korean Immigration does NOT accept FBI checks that were issued by private channelers or other state level institutions. All Americans must request their criminal record check directly from the FBI – no exceptions.

And straight from the Embassy itself...
Korean Immigration informed the Embassy on July 17, 2008, that they will no longer accept criminal records checks provided by an on-line service as some states and private companies are able to do. Korean Immigration will only accept an FBI criminal records check.

No worries. I recently went through the process for the second time (I fly out in about 10 hours) so trust me I was looking at every angle after the gov't shutdown cost me like 5 weeks.
I have heard a few people claim they know someone who went through other means and made it through immigration but personally I haven't seen it. |
