Definitely true outside of big cosmopolitan cities.

e.g., the UK reaction to the influx of eastern Europeans.

Koreans have flooded the US in numbers far more vast than Americans have gone to Korea. I don't think most Americans care that much.

SR, one thing I disagree strongly with is your apparent denial of racial C-blocking. I've had buds come visit me from back home, and go clubbing here - and this is a common complaint - even from people who know little/nothing about this place.

It certainly isn't made up.

No, no, no.

Your friends are clearly mistaken, as am I and everyone else who has noticed those same things here. They went to the clubs here, and all witnessed a series of illusions and mistaken interpretations.

There is absolutely NO RACIAL COMPONENT going on at the clubs or anywhere else in Korea: white people and others are always treated EXACTLY the SAME as Koreans, and who better to know this than Steelrails, a non-white person who lives way out in the sticks, and who is also ethnically Korean?

Clearly, he's the authority here on what's going on with races other than his own in Korea and everywhere else, and they should defer to his expert judgement. He and his friends set the standard of clubbing experiences, and whatever they do is certainly what every other group must be doing the world over.

Koreans don't even SEE race. There is NO sense of group identity or TEAM mentality. We've been all wrong all along. And every place in the world is exactly the same.

Nothing to see here. These aren't the droids you are looking for.

I'm not saying there aren't elements of what you're saying. I'm just saying you might be misinterpreting them or refusing to consider other possibilities. Maybe there is something in your mannerisms that bothers people. That and somethings just happen in clubs period around the world.

What you think back home dudes would be cool if you started hitting on their girlfriend or just sitting down at some random table and trying to join in with a bunch of strangers? Especially some dude whos gonna come over and expect everyone to start paying attention to him.

But as I said, the music doesn't stop and the entire club doesn't come over the second you talk to a Korean girl. In reality, 95% of "Team Korea" at the club is going on clubbing and not giving a crap whether or not you hit on some Korean girl.

Anyways, how's Team White these days?

==============================================

Anyways, aren't we all supposed to be Team NET? Isn't that it in the end? Frankly its a little hard to support the team when you get some types that just rant borderline racist stuff at the ethnic background of a good many people on Team NET. It also doesn't help that while some scream about racism towards themselves, they are oddly unsupportive and quite when it comes to discrimination against say, gyopos in the workplace.

Reminds me of the time one of my friends told a couple new arrivals "This might shock you, but you might encounter racism here. It's not like back home." One was an Indian from Australia, the other a Muslim from South Africa.

Steel,

You know full well that for many on here "Team NET" does not include you as you lack a certain "pure foreigner" quality from their perspective.

It is sad and a pretty bad double standard but it has been proven true on here so many times you lose count.

Are you guys incapable of comprehending what this thread is about? It's about WHITE people in Korea, not gyopos or 'Team NET'. I realize Korea has a lot of people with 'useless' degrees floating around, but surely you needed some comprehension skills to graduate uni.

Most people completely understand the thread thanks.

While Steel does tend to post Illyad/Odyssey lenght rambles on here, he does get "accused" of being a gyopo quite often and that is a disturbing trend on this site.

He is guilty as charged. As already mentioned, SR is not white, therefore he should keep his big gyopo nose out of this thread. Smile

Likewise, us whities will keep out of any threads - where world authorities, on what it's like to be a gyopo in Korea, are needed. Shocked Shocked Shocked

From the following article:

http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=104&oid=044&aid=0000126815

In another case that has international repercussions for the South Korean legal system, a U.S. man married to a South Korean woman recently fled South Korea with his fifteen month old daughter. After filing for divorce in the Seoul family court the woman took the South Korean court custody decision to a U.S. court. However, her attempt to enforce the custody order ended abruptly when the U.S. court refused to follow the South Korean court decision.

According to South Korean news reports, the U.S. court stated that the well-known inequitable treatment of Americans in South Korean courts was so pervasive as to be tantamount to a violation of human rights. This stark assessment of the South Korean judiciary, if non-apocryphal, is an international embarrassment.

That's true- they don't. Part of it is that they're not seen as much of a threat. I was talking about a theoretical where a sudden influx of "playboy" foreigners moved into an area. Immigrants are often decried for taking jobs, but in the US I've never heard the locals expressing concern that foreign workers are going to take their women like they do in Korea.

But you'll of course continue to comment constantly on Koreans, their motivations, their experiences, and their actions as though you are an authority.

No I'd have to say the honor of being the most obnoxious poster goes to you by a country mile.

And since I really don't care about obnoxious opinions it will have no effect on my posting.

You have a nice day too now.

He's a troll. And by the look of his smiley usage pattern I'd say he's part of the same troll stable that brought us such luminaries as IPIC.
