What's with that clown in Itaewon who walks around screaming into his loud speaker that everybody is "going to hell". Can the businesses not do anything to curtail this guy? People will be sitting outside a cafe, on patios, or just walking along and this guy is screaming at them. "You are drinking and smoking here", he yells. "But you are going to hell." And the clown has his loud speaker usually set on maximum. When anyone tells him to turn the volume down he just turns the speaker to him and yells "YOU ARE GOING TO HELL". Really? For asking you to turn the volume down? I'm sure there are plenty of Christians walking around Itaewon who also dislike being yelled at through a loud speaker. But if they tell him to turn the volume down he'll just tell them that they're also going to hell. Freedom of speech is one thing. Screaming abuse at people is another. The merchants really need to bring this character to the attention of the police. Or confront him, or something.
I'm sure if I walked around Seoul screaming at people through a megaphone and being abusive I'd have my visa cancelled and be charged with public mischief. But this clown walks around unchallenged. |

I'm guessing:
A.) He did his paperwork for this stuff and is legally allowed or
B.) Korean police are lazy
I'm guessing B |

I've met a lot of people on the D-6 Religious Visitor/Missionary (종교) visa. South Korea exports loads of Christian missionaries around the world so as part of a reciprocal agreement they allow (seemingly) unlimited numbers of Christian proselytizers to come here to preach to people on the streets. |

Is it the same fella who always stood outside Burger King (back when it was opposite Geckos) with the "Bush=666" signs? |

No, this guy is Korean. He usually walks through the alleys behind the Hamilton Hotel. Anyone who has frequented the 3 Alley Pub area should know of this guy. Haven't seen him since the weather turned colder, though. I guess his concern for our souls only goes so far.
As for that Western guy who used to stand on the corner with the "George Bush = antichrist" poster, what a freak. Even other Xians wanted nothing to do with him. I once saw him walk over to join the happy clappy Christians that used to sing outside KFC in Itaewon. They basically told him to f____ off. Even other proseletizers wanted nothing to do with him.
Screaming megaphone man, antichrist man, and the league of happy clappies. It's interesting how the same belief system can produce such wildly different products.
Good times. |

Ironically I've been proselytized to more in Korea than in any Western county. |

Especially if you're living in Chungnam, which is 90% Christian. |
