| OP knew this day was coming. Carried on in denial & now rails against the system. My sympathy meter is barely fluctuating. |

WTF! My thoughts, exactly!
6 years in Korea. In debt. Not even enough money to purchase a ticket to get back home. Questionable past with the law. His GF doesn't want to marry him. Would you? What would you say if your daughter brought this trophy home? |

Everyone knows that dealing with officials of any capacity in Korea is beyond frustrating. They always look for reasons why they can't do what you ask.
To say they're sticklers for procedure is an understatement, its more correct to say they go to great lengths to avoid helping foreigners.
Trying to get even a simple thing done at the bank, for example, can leave you suicidal. |

I have to disagree. I have found getting the majority of things done in Korea is easy peazy! It seems the independent types do well here. There is a point when it's time to let go of mom's apron strings. |

OP, if you are desperate your embassy can help get you on a plane. But it'll cost you serious bucks.
On another note, how did you manage to work in Korea in recent years without a criminal background check. Were you working under the table? |

Marry your fiancee and switch to an F-6 visa? Or is she not a Korean? |
This is a complicated process that requires bank statements showing financial stability. Not to mention it takes more than a month to get everything together |

Go back, get the record expunged...then re-apply. Preferably after a year or so when that particular immigration officer is no longer there.
Or marry your (Korean?) fiancé and get an F visa. |
If he applies for an E2 visa they could, I don't know, still deny him because of his previous visa rejection. I would say marry his Korean fiancé. |

I really don't understand why people gloat at the difficulties of other foreigners here. Yeah, he should have had some money saved (etc.) but gloating over it is just base. If the post is genuine he's in a real pickle, be it of his own making or not, and it will be a lesson learned. But let's not add to his woes by piling on him.
We also don't know his extenuating circumstances. He might have serious financial obligations back home (ex-wife, children, etc.) to which most of his income goes each month. I don't know, but not every case of financial hardship is due to character failings. Sometimes life just beats you up. |

well I believe 5 years ago they only asked for crc state background check, which just checks your background in your own state. And in america, a statue of limitaion about 7 years, which after your state background is clean, maybe southside didnt know it would appear on his fbi. The US needs to clarify to about their laws, its such a gray area. Why is everyone given him a hard time, we don't know what went on in his 5 years here. As you know, foriengers party hard when they first get to korea, so how in the hell could you save money!
Anyway I feel for the guy, it's easy for us to say, because we are not in his position. |

You are solidly middle-aged, but not married.
You have been here 6 years, yet have no money and you work at Avalon.
You immaturely blame "robot immigration monkeys" for your troubles instead of planning for such an outcome as a responsible adult would have done.
I don't think being deported from Korea could really ruin your life beyond what it currently is. Maybe a shake up is precisely the thing you need. |
Not to be unsympathetic, but your girlfriend of 5 years won't marry you but has been with you for 5 years? Odd.
As for Avalon, why aren't they giving you a flight home? You already worked for them and your renewal has been denied?
As for what someone said about expensive weddings, you don't need to do one of those stupid wedding halls. Here, you're legally married once you get the paper, not when the pastor or judge declares you man and wife. So, just hold a reception in a park for guests outdoors when the weather is nice. (October or April). Spend a million won on some food, flowers, photgrapher, etc. Screw those overpriced lame wedding halls. People are so stupid sometimes.
Why would immigration reject you now when they didn't before?
It's hard for us to comment as I think we are missing some of the information. |

What happened to the original thread that was deleted and replaced by this one? The original one started off more off-kilter, agreed, but it had more pizazz IMO.
Only MOD knows, I guess. |

You're sounding positively Victorian.

You've never been seriously stuck with some problem of bureaucracy? Count yourself very lucky.
Point is: people's personal circumstances are unique and you don't know even 1% of the story just by a glance at an anonymous online posting.
Its the 21st century and nobody has to live their life to some antiquated formula dictated to them by society.
The sort of unimaginative people who follow your very unoriginal idea usually don't travel the world or go to places like Korea in the first place. |

| FBI background checks have been required since 2011. Even if you used your one time grace period pass for changing your state level CBC into a federal CBC, how did you get renewed in '12, '13? |
