Accused is one thing, convicted - that's losing your job and ability to work around children, in my books.

Anyone who doesn't do what you want, the way you want it done pisses you off to no end.

Yeah, ppl diddling little kids pisses me off. Ppl getting away with it, or being in a position to do it again, pisses me off even more.

Now, if you support the diddling of little kids, then you piss me off too.

Seems simple, no?

As for me, I have been studying the reactions of the observers in these kind of cases and it is amazing how fast people will throw justice and fairness out the window and let emotion dictate the course of action when these type of crimes occur.

I like justice, not vigilantism or kangaroo courts. I do not like emotion over-ruling sound judgment or tossing mercy to the wayside.

People are just too quick to leap to judgment in these cases and refuse to hear all the evidence or how it legally applies.

These are CONVICTED criminals! The JUDGEMENT was done by the courts.

Now, if you feel comfortable with a few pedophiles hanging with your kid, that's on you (but it's sickening).

Me, I want them nowhere near my kid.

Seems simple enough - conviction for sexual assault (and the like), especially against a child, should remove you from the possibility of working with them again.

Archie, you sound like the Catholic church - just forgive and shuffle them to a new location - so they can do it all over again.

This is another thing that amazes me. Is how English teachers can miss the point made by someone else.

I do not recall mentioning anything about forgiveness and shuffling. I was talking about those who use emotion instead of logical rational thought to mete out some form of punishment that has nothing to do with justice or fairness.

In my book, justice and fairness are served by restricting pedophiles' contact with children.

That's very fair - fair to the children that don't need to be exposed as potential victims.

Your book doesn't matter.

There lies the conundrum. One's book of beliefs is older than the other's. It must have more merit and be the end all of right and wrong, right?

Did David Theissen's case for assault in North America have too much emotions in it?
