Most of the foreign crowd here (and a lot of Koreans) go to a BIG gym at Jangsan subway station in Haeundae. It's two stops away from haeundae station. In fact, since most schools are around Jangsan, I'm guessing you might already be in the Jangsan area.
It's called Sydney Gym and it is in the same building as Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and the 'Primus' movie theatre. It's right at one of the subway exits.. The one with starbucks on the corner. It's on the 6th and 7th floor of this building.
Very big gym, tons of freeweights, machines, squash court, studio for classes, etc. Foreigners very welcome. |

Have you thought about a CrossFit or BootCamp gym??? There is one at Gwangali. If you search facebook for Reebok Sentinel Crossfit Beachside you can get all the info there.. a bit more expensive than your average korean gym, but far better- and plenty of English speakers. |

Initially I would like to just get into a "normal" gym. I do like the idea of crossfit but I am very limited on the technical lifts. Snatches and cleans would be ok but I have never even attempted a muscle up or a kip chin up lol, but i would def look into it.
Eventually I would like to join an MMA gym. My main interest would be in Judo/Jiu jitsu and I would also like the self defence aspects of the striking element. I think an MMA gym would be a better fit over a purely Judo/boxing gym as it would have many elements. I would also rather train no gi.
Thanks for the suggestions. |
