Not necessarily. Maybe he's being extradited to Korea in order to receive a month of counseling and a one year contract to teach at a middle school.

Yeah, but she had consensual sex with an adult Canadian white guy, a much more serious offense! |

At that time the age of consent was 13, but producing and distributing pornography, especially the juvenile kind, was illegal. |

That the law is not applied fairly in these cases is a little beside the point anyway. If I was the father or brother of this girl, I would have taken a baseball bat to the guy - and I am usually pretty much a non-violent guy. Cases like these, though, would be my breaking point. |

On top of that, he's an American so he's also subject to US law relating to crossing international borders for the purpose of engaging in sexual relations with those under 18 years old. |

Foreigners often say that Koreans don't get punished and sent to jail for commiting crimes. The reality is that a great many of these offences are settled out of court. Money can and often does make things go away. |

If you were the father or brother, can you explain why your teenage daughter/sister was on the internet searching for sex partners? |

First of all, who is to say they were looking for sex partners? Lured, duped, or threatened is more likely.
But for the sake of argument, let's say they were actively looking. Have you never heard of the "age of consent"? Never mind what South Koreans statutes say. Would you state in front of Dave's readers now that you would exploit and take advantage of a wayward 15, 16, or even 17 year old girl? |

Not talking about me. You stated you would harm a man who slept with your 17 year old sister, despite her joining dating websites and meeting up and willingly sleeping with said man. Are you saying a 17 year old person who joins those websites, conceals their age, and willingly participates bears no responsibility? If you have a problem with your 17 year old sister doing such, keep her off the internet. |

Where did I say anything about joining dating websites and concealing age? Where are joining dating websites and concealing one's age even referenced in the thread at all, even by you, until now? That is one of the oldest and lamest excuses in the book anyway -"Judge, she looked 18 to me".
As far as being a willing participant, I have already answered that question. A minor's responsibility is not the issue here, it is the adult's.
Radcon, older guys preying on underage girls did not begin with the internet, nor did porn movies. How in the hell are you going to keep a kid off the internet anyway?
Seems like you want to blame the girl and/or her parents. |

Yes, in the case if the adult knew the true age of the "minor" before committing sexual acts with them?
What is your stance on adults who have sex with "minors" after said "minor" has lied about their age? Do you hold that the minor has any responsibility for deceit? |

Sorry. I'm utilizing info on this case that I read from sources other than this thread. Supposedly he met these girls on online dating websites. The girls were aware that he was videotaping and in some cases even holding the camera. Allegedly one of the girls was 17.
Personally, if I was a father I would hope that my teenage daughters would wait until college to become sexually active as I believe most teenagers aren't emotionally mature enough for sex. But if my 17 year old daughter willingly had sex with an older guy, I wouldn't feel the need to kill him as you would. |

I never said kill, I'm not a murderer. I only intimated maiming the guy. Even Don Corleone would not kill the guys who took advantage of the undertaker's daughter. Truth be told, I probably would not even do that, unless the guy was laughing about it in my face.

Well, speaking as a father, emotionally, not legally, I suppose that might mitigate the "sleeping with" part, if I really thought it was an honest mistake, and the age difference was closer than 29 to 17. I understand that in the heat of passion, you are not going to ask to see an apostilled birth certificate. But my blood would boil over about making and posting videos. That is not something done in the "heat of the moment".
Let me ask you the reverse question. Do you think a lie should completely absolve the guy of any responsibility, especially for the video part? |

If he made the video for his own personal viewing collection then no, I don't hold him responsible for making the video if the girl lied to him about her age.
Posting the video online was a dumb move and he should be held to account since it violates the law regardless if he knew the girl was underage or not. |
