Is there something you like about Korea? Something big, something tiny, something weird, something beautiful?

It's always at the top of my students' lists. And mine too.

And the beaches. (I live on an island full of a variety of them: big, small, sandy, pebbles, shallow, deep, close, closer - though my fav is farther, on Namhae Island)

I must thank Korea for helping me to get over my fear of public transportation. I hop on buses and subways now without a second thought.

You were afraid of public transportation?

Why?

Where I grew up, there's no such things as public transit. Then I went to college and the first time I tried to take a bus, I got lost and nearly slipped on some guy's vomit. Then I had some shady experiences on the metro in DC. I went from being in complete control of my trip in a car to being at the mercy of others on public transit.

One of the few compliments I've seen on beaches. I'll have to visit that island.
