There used to be not one, but two Cinnabons in Chongno, Seoul, a few years ago. The one right near there Chongkak Sta. closed down a while back, leaving the one on the ground floor of the YBM building remaning. My girlfriend and I went by there last week for dessert after lunch nearby and discovered that that one too closed down, just recently it seems (they were in the process of remodeling for some other business).

A bit disappointed... I'm wondering if the whole chain in Korea closed down. I've heard from numerous Koreans that their rolls are just too sweet for the locals.

Are there still Cinnabons in Seoul? If so, where? Or did the entire chain go out of business?

Brian

The one in Bundang closed recently, too. Hard to believe they weren't making any money; the place was always busy and the prices were pretty steep.

I have a friend at Yongsan who signs me in from time to time, so yea, I can get Cinnabon and Taco Bell there.

I was hyped when I first saw Cinnabon opening up in CHongno... I taught at a hagwon just around the corner at the time and ended up going there twice a day for the first few days it was open.

One time, I bought two of them for my class. The 5 students ended up sharing one... I ate the other. Finished before they did too... "Too sweet,"
they said...

Where was the one in Bundang?

As a side-note, I think YBM had a stake in the franchise. Wifey used to work for them (YBM, not Cinnabon), and they were always giving her free crap.

In Canada I thought Cinnabon was awful as a cinnamon bun: cheap, blah-tasting, undercooked dough, overly sugary yet under-creamy icing and an understated cinnamon taste. The antithesis of homemade even though it was served freshly made.
In Korea I now remember them fondly. Rolling Eyes
I just might get myself one.

It was at Samsung Plaza, on the same side as McDonald's, in the same building as the also now defunct Hardee's.

Did the one in Myeongdong go out of business too? This would indeed be a very very sad day for this bug.
