He was not a Korean student. He came to the US when he was in the 5th grade; he's a naturalized citizen. That makes him an American. |
At one point prior to the 5th grade he wasn't an American, he was Korean. I guess whatever beauracracy he had to navigate at that time to become a citizen was not effective in predicting this event. He slipped through the system. |
I don't think you can put this to him having once being a Korean. I mean when you're in the 5th grade you're 12 years old. And it's not like upper middle class guys from all backgrounds don't pull stuff like that. I don't see the relevance to his his ethnicity except maybe that we're annoyed at how we're sometimes perceived in the ROK. They demonize all of us over every little thing. I don't see the point in doing this for all Korean-Americans. |
