What is the maximum number of hrs a person can work at a second job if they have an e2 visa? I heard somewhere that it was 40% of the hrs of your primary job.

Last time that I checked, the hours weren't important. The pay was what immigration cared about.

It's a third of the hours of your primary job. Immigration does check this, as I've had it happen when I went in.

I was curious so I asked around. It seems that it's a matter of hours AND salary. Two people that I got some feedback from thought that it's more than one third (both are officially doing much more than that) but didn't know what the legal limit for the second job is other than it must be clearly less than the first job. Both are doing it legally and they handed in a copy of their schedules when then applied for permission to take the second jobs.

The actual limit might be a matter of policy or recommended procedure.

My second job paid more than my first. And I worked more hours. My first job was "part time" 15 hours a week at an adult hagwon but I got extra classes on Saturday and during the week. This pushed me to about 2.1 million.

My second "part time job" said in my contract that 15 hours a week was required. That is all that immigration saw. I actually worked 25 plus hours at my second job and pulled way more (almost 3 million).

Immigration never did anything. As long as On PAPER (on the contract) my hours and pay were not more and they weren't. They may be more strict now however...

When I was in the immigration office about a year ago I asked this very question. Remember that this was about a year ago, so things could have changed.

They said that if someone wanted to add another job to their visa that the working hours and total salary from their new employer had to be less than what was being given from their primary employer/visa sponsor.

Also remember that each immigration office/officers have different ways of doing things. What you might get away with one office/officers doesn't mean another office/officers will do the same.

If you want to know for sure call the immigration office.

Looks like it depends on where you work. My uni told me that the rules have changed for people who work at a uni. Until this year you could work up to 18hrs total at 2 unis, but from this yr it has been lowered to 16 total hrs. Bit of a bummer.
