My docs have arrived at the school that I will start working for in 2 weeks. I'm still in Ireland.

She said she is bringing the docs to immigration today. Will they issue the visa number today or will it take a few days? I thought that it takes a week or 2 especially at this time of year.

Or could I possibly be in a position to go to the embassy here in Ireland tomorrow?

Once your boss has submitted all relevant documents to immigration in Korea it will take 2 weeks before you get your Visa number. There are no short cuts. Then you would go to the Korean embassy in your country and that will most likely take a day to process your visa. So I can't see you starting exactly in 2 weeks.

Yeah I figured 2 weeks but she seemed more optimistic. It's the busiest time of year.

Plus it takes 5 working days to process the visa here in Ireland. I definitely ain't gonna make the first day of school.

I was in exactly the same position this time last year, my visa didn't arrive until 3 days after I was supposed to start my job, and so I ended up starting one week late. I was lucky enough to be in regular contact with another foreign teacher at the school who kept the owner informed.

Just keep your school informed of the timeline once you get your visa issuance number back (eg I should have my visa on this date, and so would hope to get this flight and arrive in Korea on this date), and everything should be fine.

Then once you have your passport back with your visa in it, and your flight booked, contact the school again and confirm your details.

Thanks. Yeah, it's not worrying me. The process takes time and the school know that so no stress.
