inkoreaforgood,
thank you for the information.
Do you really want to stay in Korea for good?

Is it guilty until proven innocent?
Is it innocent until proven guilty?
Assault
Every one who, in committing an assault,
(a) carries, uses or threatens to use a weapon or an imitation thereof, or
(b) causes bodily harm to the complainant,
is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months.
R.S., 1985, c. C-46, s. 267; 1994, c. 44, s. 17.
Aggravated assault
(1) Every one commits an aggravated assault who wounds, maims, disfigures or endangers the life of the complainant.

ATTEMPTED MURDER- In order for a person to be found guilty of attempted murder the government must prove:
First, acting deliberately and intentionally or recklessly with extreme disregard for human life, the person attempted to kill someone; and the person did something that was a substantial step toward committing the crime. Mere preparation is not a substantial step toward committing a crime.

Man, talk about relativity and parallels...A few years back, when I was in uni, a film was produced with Steve Buscemi, Vince Vaughn and John Travolta...it was a big deal locally, because my university was in a small city...

Apparently, Vince Vaughn was successful in macking on the GI's girlfriend, which led the GI to switch to the primate defense mode. Steve Buscemi was trying to be the mediator when the GI pulled a knife and went for the throat....familiar as it may sound, almost all of the bars and clubs subsequently put a "NO GI" rule in effect. |

Seriously though there are good and bad foreign teachers. And I will wager that the drunken Korean men WAY outnumber the drunken foreign teachers, as do the soldiers. Not all of us are drunken skirt-chasers "here for a good time not a long time" as the song goes. |
Actually that was kind of my point... there are four times the number of soliders here than teachers (last I read there were 10000e2s and 40000 soliders). Some of them act like drunken idiots, but I notice that some psters are quick to jump on the bandwagon of 'letting the team down'... teachers, soliders, koreans on booze. the results are usually the same. They act like morons (esp. when trying to impress chicks) and sometimes they also get into fights that they would probably walk away from when sober. Bottom line, being drunk doesn't equal sexy nor charming. |

well I hate drinking and I hate Itaewon and other bar places, im 27 so too old for this stuff now, but it's not sexy when women are puking on the street either, especially korean girls, some drink way more than guys do. alot of western girls are very very out of shape here, that's not sexy either |

Not everyone is into your lifestyle Artie old boy. Some of us prefer more intellectual pursuits. But hey, if drunken skirt-chasing is your thing..... |

That's my point.
They kept showing a close-up of some Korean guy's neck. I thought (perhaps wrong) that this was the "stab" they talked about. |

That's because they didn't show the Korean guy who was stabbed: he's in hospital in 'serious condition'.
Guess what you were looking at was actually a pimple on a GI's neck. Nice job spreading misinformation. |
