Is the T money card the best option for using public transport. I will be in Busan for at least a month and will be using the subway a lot.
in general where can these be bought? I'm assuming they can be purchased in subways?
I appreciate any feedback

If you're visiting Busan, a T Money card will probably be a terrible option, as they are for the Seoul/Gyeonggi area.
Busan uses the Hanaro card. Pick one up from the 7 Eleven or other convenience store. They're very convenient and cheap. |

'Using' a T-money card in Busan isn't a problem at all, it's accepted on all metro(+light-rail) and bus lines.
'Adding credit' is potentially a concern, since you wouldn't be able to do so at metro stations. Nevertheless, you can top up instead using almost all ATMs of Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, Hana Bank and Post Office, as well as at GS25 convenient stores.
Still, the choice is yours.

I have no preference and will be purchasing this card once I arrive in Busan. I will also be spending the vast majority of my time within Busan. With this in mind would the Hanaro card be the best option?

My understanding is that the Hanaro cards are more common in Busan. Hanaro cards will work on both subway and buses. I presume that they work like the tmoney cards, and you can use them for free (or discounted) transfers from bus to subway.
You mention that you'll be using the subway a lot. Subways are great, but don't discount how useful the buses can be. Sometimes people are a bit more intimidated by the buses, but don't be. They're easy to use and can be far more convenient than subways. |

I agree. I always take buses. They're cheap and convenient. Of course, you have to look at the stops to make sure you're not taking the long way to your destination, but that obviously comes with good knowledge of the area. |

Yes. For Busan, the Hanaro card is by far the best option. Busan's metro is pretty extensive now, and if I were there for only a month I'd definitely favour it over buses. Busan traffic sucks and the bus routes are pretty confusing. Leaving the city you may be obliged to take a bus, however.

| A friend who was previously in Busan just told me that a Mybi card is a good option and she bought it in the actual airport. Seems to be many options |

Yeah, it's good for metro, bus, taxi, parking, tolls etc. It is essentially the Busan version of T Money. |
