I hope this means we get a much bigger selection of Canadian beer.

Don't count on it. Never anything good from Canada comes here. Labatts or Kokanee, nope? Molson, nope? We get Moosehead Green. Yuck!

What about Canadian smokes? Nope only American. They always, along with Korean, make me cough. Yick! Japanese and Canadian are best if you must smoke. (Save me the boring PC lectures about smoking.) Players Smooth are the best. Chocolate bars from Canada - Mr Big? Really? Why not, Peanut butter Oh Henry, Reece Peanut Butter Cups, mars bars and the like?

Anyhew, don't expect much from the FTA. It's still going to mostly be other countries products or the sub par products from Canada that aren't popular from home.

I hope the Canadian government has the common sense to drop the excise and export taxes they put on goods (like alcohol and tobacco) leaving the country. It makes many export products so expensive they can't compete overseas.

They are capable of beating any competitor on price and quality if they really want to. But the government there is a tax addict.

Reese cups are available from the states, but still haven't made it here.

With all due respect (& I'm a Canuck), all those brands are industrial swill hardly distinguishable from Korean factory brew. Didnt they have microbrew at your home pub or neighborhood beer store? Thats what I miss.

Seriously.
F&M in Guelph Ontario brews their Harvest Ale and Harvest Lager exclusively for just a couple neighbourhood pubs in the city. Far and away the most delicious beer I've ever had (even among craft brews). I would shot-put a kindergartener into a slow-moving river if I could get it over here.

The Canadian Prime Minister is coming to Korea this week. I think its safe to assume he isn't just dropping by to pick up a pot of kimchi. Maybe we'll get that beer we've all been hoping for.

I would assume he's coming to see how much the Korean government is willing to pay to make Kimchi a mandatory part of canadian school lunches.

Truth be said, the overweight kids in Canada could use some kimchi in their lives.

Although I have no idea what the tariffs are on these goods, I'm guessing it's lack of demand more than anything.
In any case we need lots more Koreans to go to Canada and get addicted to these substances before they come back, prices isn't really important if it's delicious enough.

I didn't expect the microbrewers to get into exporting to here. I was mostly just making a point. But, I agree microbrews are much better. I actually prefer German dark beers the most. But, Moosehead Green is the worst amongst the major brands.

I think lots of Canadian food and beverages can go toe to toe with any other import on the market in Korea. Beer definitely.

I'd like to see Labatts, Keith's, Olands, Kokanee.... come to think of it I want to see them all here.

I can't believe a 6% tarriff on Korean cars and a mad cow that was never even in Korea held up this deal for so long.
