I know this article is a few weeks old and I guess the protest happened a month ago or so, but I didn't know anything about it despite watching the news here 3-4 times a week.

This article and whole story is really disgusting

Anyone else have any other info? I'm trying to look for other sources and coming up empty

Yeah its disgusting.

Unfortunately these sorts of stories make it into the English-language press but not the Korean press.

There are so many things that Koreans need to read about but don't..because of the censors.

I've been keeping up with the story. Iirc, they got backpay (13,000) after protesting and they went back home after their contract ended recently. And this did make it to Korean media outlets.

They barely realize what they did was wrong.

The museum boss: "Migrant workers often tend to disappear and stay illegally to work, so we had no choice but to keep all their passports."

It was widely reported in the Korean press by most major news outlets.

I also saw that a saenuri assembly member got into trouble over the affair as well.
