Beegers doesn't brew their own stuff. It's just a rebrand of the Kabrew beers. |

Oh my bad, I don't really drink often. What beers does Kabrew make? |

As far as the 'Cream Beer" places that have been mentioned, its just the usual Max/Cass/Hite (usually Max) that uses a different filter on the tap. It pulls some of the carbonization out of the beer and makes it foam on the top, same taste, same price. |
Sounds like it's a nitro tap? |
Ha, thats exactly what it is. If you drink it quick its actually an improvement, but if you let it sit around for more than 10 minutes its like drinking a natti light that was left out in the sun for half a million hours. |

Other than the places already mentioned, all of which are in the 이태원 area, there is a new place in 혜화 that just opened up called McDucks Taphouse. The food is pretty good and he's got a good selection of craft beers in there, they don't brew any of their own though.

Nice! That's my neck of the woods. Do you mind posting directions? |
If you are familiar with the area its in the ally behind Mario's, same ally as Sam Cooke's, in a basement next to the building that houses Sam Cooke's.
If you want to grab a pint sometime, send me a PM. Always nice to meet people living in the area that aren't in uni here or just out to party in the area. |

Haha interesting. I used to occasionally drink Hop Devil on nitro back in the US but had never thought someone would use it on something like Cass! |

It's not supposed to be used with lagers. However, i guess with Korean beer the only good way to drink it is super fast anyway so it doesn't detract much from the already terrible taste.
I was kind of shocked the first time I saw it here because (from my experience) older Koreans that don't enjoy foreign beer have often told me that they dont like it because of the lack of carbonation, hence the reason that Korean beer is much like soda. However, this tap does exactly that, draw all of the carbonization out of the beer.. |

The chain that I popped in used actual cream (or half n half or some such) in what they called as 'cream beer'.
I.e. I ordered it, they brought out a not-quite-full pint of Red Rock, and then poured in (according to the menu) 50ml of the cream from a little carton. They stirred it up with a spoon and when it finished fizzing and separating you ended up with flattish Red Rock under a head which was about halfway to the sort of consistency you get on Guinness.
It was odd. |

I went to McDucks today and thought I'd leave some info. It's a decent little basement place. The food is limited to pizza, macaroni, sausages, nachos and a somethings I forget. Nothing great on the food front but they have a decent variety of beer compared to the standard hof. They offer Max, Hopcat, Punk IPA, and Oatmeal stout on tap. Bottles include Brewdog Punk IPA, 5am Saint, Dead Pony Club, North Coast Scrimshaw, Red Seal, and something else, and Green Flash beers like Hop Head Red, Double Stout, etc.
They have the beers that are commonly available in Itaewon. The prices are pretty similar to Itaewon, which means they are high. The main benefit is the location. It means people in the north of Seoul don't have as far to travel to drink these beers.
Overall, well worth going to if you are in the area. A good recommendation from Seoulnate. |

It seems no-one is replying to you, so I'll take some time. Ka-brew make their own pale ale, pilsner, IPA, and stout. Many bars then brand them as their own brews. Example, if I own a bar I could take take delivery of these Ka-brew beers and call them whatever I like. I could call it the Optik IPA, but it would still be the exact same as the IPA offered round the corner under a different name. The ability to recognize the generic Ka-brew allows you to hunt for places that do it at the lowest price. In Bucheon there is a coffee shop that sells the IPA for 6,000won, whereas in Beegers it goes for 8,000won. The exact same beer but a 2,000won difference in price. The glasses are smaller in Beegers too.
Also, when I went to Beegers the burger was so raw the bun turned pink with blood. When I complained the barmaid was surly and unhelpful. She also bid me farewell with a laugh of derision. Not a place I will frequent again, and with the prices they charge for the generic Ka-brew beers and food I would encourage others to go elsewhere.
I know you like to troll so I'll leave with this gentle ribbing. If you think Beegers brew their own beers and the burgers are decent, I'd suggest you don't know your arsehole from a hole in the ground. |

Like I said, I don't drink often. I don't even really enjoy drinking these days. The one time I've been to Beegers, the burger was good, I asked for a medium rare and it came out med rare. Also, the wait staff was nice I guess, I only talked to them a couple times. I did feel sorry for the dog having to sit in a smoky bar with loud music all night.
Sorry, you had a bad experience. I don't know where you got this idea that I like to troll. But it's cute that you remember me. |

Did you address her as "Barmaid!" ? If so it might have been a contributing factor.
That actually fascinating about the Ka-brew rebranding, I've never heard of a practice like that. |

I find addressing the female waitstaff as "beer wenches" commingles the appropriate levels of debauchery and servitude in response, myself. |

Better summary than I wrote ha, nice work.
Also I should add that the owner and wait staff are really friendly which is a huge plus in my book.
I've been going once a week or so since they opened. I just wish they had some TVs with sports on. |
