Has anyone recently renewed their passport? Did it really take 2 to 3 weeks for it to be returned or was it shorter/longer? I'm hoping to make a trip out of the country in February, but I totally forgot my passport expires soon....

Been a few years since I did mine, but if I recall correctly you can request express service for an extra fee.

I'm renewing my passport that will expire at the end of the month. Do I have to go to Seoul and visit the embassy in person? I noticed that I can't mail my application and passport to the US address listed in the documents for renewal services.

Just want to clarify if I can mail my passport/fee/application to US embassy or if I have to visit in person. It takes me a while to get to Seoul and I work weekdays so it'll be a bit of a pain to do this in person... I'm guessing I will have to just make an appointment and go to the embassy in Seoul in person for this.

Thanks!

You can mail it to the embassy, but you have to use one of the two authorized courier services. The one I had to use was Hanjin, even though they suck. When you print out the application form from the online wizard program it will be confusing about where to send. Just ignore that and send it straight to the embassy. Don't forget you have to get a international money order made in US dollars from the bank and send it with the application form. It took mine about 2 weeks or a little less to get mine back.

Yes, and make sure you have cash to pay the courier when he arrives with your new passport.
