Well at least Koreans in Korea are fair. They have no problem with foreigner only bars and special discounts for foreigners, but not Koreans. At least they seem to be consistent in that.

As for Koreatown, you do realize that Koreatown isn't just Koreans, right? Most Koreatowns are at most 40-60% Korean. Also, you can freely move into and out of Koreatown. |

What are you going on about with the whole 'fair' thing? Can you dumb it down a little with examples? |

Actually, probably less than that. LA's Koreatown has maybe 30% tops ethnic Korean residents in the area. |

Wonder how that mixture with the high population of latinos is working out there? You know anything about that? |

I envisage a weird social inverted universe in Seoul where horny adjossis, in the rancid, poky, fire-hazard brothels of Hooker Hill, take the place of male English teachers burning their pay-cheques in mad moments of inebriated lust.

In the reverse direction, woegook namjadoorun are suddenly welcome with open arms--and other areas of the female anatomy I'm sure I don't need to specify--in the glass booths of temptation in Miari (if it still exists--perhaps migrated to Yongsan/Seoul Station). At the same time, we may see Caucasian English teachers patronising the high-end, high-maintenance 'business clubs' and room salons around Namdaemun and Myeong-Dong which were the domains of visiting Japanese executives being 'lubricated' by their Korean hosts--now I suspect it's Chinese money makers receiving the complimentary BJs--, except I don't think English teachers could afford the fellatio unless they are doing those fancy EBS/Arirang TV gigs. |

Couldn't we employ some of those Gangnam gangsters being discussed in another thread. Or better still, the Russian mafia. Oh, oh, I've got it...Nigerians. Either way, we need to make Itaewon a scary place again where shoppers flee to the safety of their own neighborhoods at sun-down. Maybe we can get the Korea Times to write a piece on scary, dangerous Itaewon, or provoke MBC into re-running one of its its hit pieces on scary foreigners.

ktown will actually get federal money? Yeah right. ill believe it when it happens. after all those decades of neglect, tax revenue that goes to other districts, horrible road and sidewalk conditions (worse than south central la) division of koreatown into 4 districts, neglect of senior citizen services, neglect of all community needs.... Someone will screw korea town over.

From the chandlers to herb wesson, they are all just gollum like vultures waiting to pounce and destroy korea town

by the way. Most latinos and koreans get along great. especially in the work place. They are very hard workers and have a lot of jung. |

Theres mexicans and el salvadoreans in itaewon that make up the majority?

A closer equivalent would be if westerners owned restaurants in itaewon, and latinos staffed them.

Of course, there is a serious hipster invasion of ktown trying to take over all the hangout spots. Perhaps we need to work out a trade... Haha

But a lot of the new itaewon restaurants and bars bring western foods via korean american lens, and are in fact being opened by Korean Americans. Believe it or not, they are just as and many times more comfortable with westerners than koreans. But i think anywhere that has a happy hour will draw the western crowd... |

Complains about Koreans not liking western food, lack of diversity in western restaurants, and Koreans being closed off.

Now complains about Koreans getting into western food, thereby encouraging a diversity of restaurants, and wants to clise off Itaewon to Koreans.

In other words, believes the people of this country exist to enable his or her arbitrary whims. |

Don't most such restaurants end up changing their menus and recipes to suit Korean tastes, thus diversity isn't truly being encouraged? |
