I'll be taking 2 cats back to Canada and I am wondering if anyone else has done this.... If so, what advice can you give about airlines, cargo storage (can't take 2 cats inside the cabin), tranquillizers, etc...

Thanks..

The previous poster gave some good information about Animal Rescue Korea. They are on facebook as stated and their website is www.animalrescuekorea.org.

I didn't take any cats back to Canada with me but I did take a dog. I assume that you don't need any information about official documents since you didn't mention that.

As for airlines only 1 pet may be taken into the cabin with you. The other has to go into cargo. There are also flight embargoes by certain airlines at certain times of the year with regards to checked pets. You have to do the research on the airline you are intending to fly with. You also have to make a reservation in advance for your pets.

I'm not sure what else you would like to know but it's pretty easy to take pets back to Canada.

Thanks a lot... I looked into Air Canada and found out when and how to take 2 cats- a little worried about them in cargo, I must say...

I know that all I need is proof of a rabies shot to get 'em into Canada...

I am also wondering about tranquillizing them- I think it'd be necessary if being held in cargo- what's a good one- I will ask the doc, but would like to hear from someone with experience....

Depends on the airline. I've taken two cats at once from Korea to Canada via Air Canada.

You can't (and shouldn't) tranquilize your cats. If the airline suspects they are tranquilized they won't let them on the plane.

You might want to see if you can find someone else who will be on your flight and see if you could have them bring your 2nd cat in cabin as their own. I've seen people post similar requests before.
