Hello, I recently moved to South Korea to teach English and don't understand Korean at all. I just got my first bill which looks like an electricity bill, but I have no idea how I'm going to pay it off since I don't have a bank account. Should I just mail in won to the provided address?

Down here you can take it to a KJB bank and pay it there. That may differ in different parts of korea. I alos think you can do it online.

jesus.. dont upload pictures of your address on the internet, or at least any more than you already have. That's an idiotic request for some crazy person to come to your house.

Anyway, there are a few different ways you can pay:

1. I know you were posting before about not having a bank account. You can take the bills directly into a bank (any large branch), hand them cash and they will pay them.

2. Banks have machines inside that you can feed the bills into and pay. However, I have never seen one of these with English menus so if you have trouble reading the bills you would need help.

3. Bank transfer (far and away the fastest and easiest method) you can do it online, or at any ATM. Just insert your bank card and transfer it to one of the numbers on the bill. (use whatever bank you use so the transfer fee is waived)

For example, the bill will have a box with various bank names and their account numbers:

신한 (Shinhan) 110-7864-9870
우리 (Woori) 009-86355-8736
etc

pick your bank, transfer amount. finished. keep bill and receipt

Assuming you have a bank account, walk in to your bank with the bill and give it to the door greeter and do the how do I pay this look and he'll take care of it for you.

Many of your coworkers have internet/mobile banking and could pay it for you if you hand them the cash. Or look for somewhere that accepts GIRO payment. All banks and post offices and lot of franchise convenience stores will have a sign on the door meaning they do that. Again, they scan you give them cash. Just make sure you get a receipt and keep at least part of your bill

Pay them in person at your bank. Don't set it up to automatically come out of your bank account because when you move it can take 1-2 months to stop it from coming out of your account, and you can easily end up paying someone else's bill.

Just take it to the local post office. Hand the bill and cash to the lady at the counter. She will direct you to the correct wicket (pay at post) and done like dinner.

Yeh no hurry. Late payment penalties if they apply are minimal.
