Thanks for the replies.
Anyone know how long it takes by bus from the Jukjeon/Ori area to Kangnam, and which bus to take? |
You can take the 9414 or 8101 into Gangnam from Ori Station. The 9414 goes to Coex Mall and the 8101 stops off at Gangnam Station. The M4102 doesn't go further south than Migeum Station and doesn't go into Gangnam, but is a great bus to get into downtown Seoul on.
As the previous poster mentioned, it doesn't save much, if any time to take the bus to Gangnam. If traffic is at all bad then the subway would certainly be faster. |

Thanks again for all the info.
Just a few more questions:
1) Does anyone know of a gym near Ori or Jukjeon stations?
2) How much would an officetel in the Ori/Migeum/Jeongja area cost? Around 500-600k a month with deposit? More? I'm looking to move house, and my school would put down 400k, leaving me to pay any extra.
3) I've noticed that there are a bunch of outlet stores on the main road between Ori and Jukjeon. I haven't had a nosey around yet, but was wondering whether their prices are significantly cheaper than other stores in Seoul?
If anyone's interested in meeting up for a beer, or a game of darts just PM me. |

Din Tai Fung is a great international Taiwanese chain with a branch in Bundang (one of four in Korea). They have Shanghainese soup dumplings (the soup is inside the dumpling) and amazing braised beef noodle soup. I haven't been to the one there, but every other one I've been to has been amazing, and the prices are really reasonable. I don't know where the Bundang one is, but their card says the phone number is 031-705-2778.
I'm pretty sure there's also a Suji's Deli somewhere in Bundang, a great place to go for breakfast, pastrami, and burgers. |
There is a Suji's Deli in Bundang and it's quite tasty. They have the best burger that I've had in Korea.
To get there, go out of Jeongja Station, exit 3 and go straight. At the road, turn right. Go straight for a couple of blocks until you get to a stop light. Turn left and walk for maybe 6-8 minutes. It will be on your right on the first floor of a mall. |
and they have an amazing alfredo pasta w/ cajun chicken, smoked sausage, and broccoli

Wow, that food looks great, but those prices are terrible. Why come to Korea if you are going to blow your money like that? |

I don't think Suji's food is much more expensive than a decent sit-down restaurant in the States. Everything I've gotten there seemed to be a very reasonable cost to quality ratio, especially for Korea.
I live quite frugally here, saving significantly over half my income, but it's still nice to spend a bit more for a nice meal every once in a while. |

Best way to get to Kangnam is to take the 8101, real fast-like! Also, to get down into central Seoul take the 8100.
Bundang ain't so bad. It's a nice place to come back to after spending a day or night in the mess that is Seoul.
There's a gym in Ori across from the Starus Officetel. It's on the top floor of the building with Wabar. I believe it's called O2. Walk straight out exit 3 and hang a left at the corner, go straight till you see Wabar..look up. |

There is an Irish Pub with pool table and darts at Seohyeon Station, second floor, can't remember which side of the station its on...look for the green four leaf clover buried among the neon lights.
Bundang is decent, I spent a lot of time in Seohyeon and Jeongja. Nice to walk along the river between the two stations.
Butterfinger Pancakes still doing business in Jeongja? |

Was pretty boring. I just worked and went straight home. Nothing to see. Nothing to do. I loathed getting on the sub just to come into Seoul.
On the bright side, I wasn't too far from Home Plus and E-Mart. |

I've never been to Yongin, but Bundang is great! It's one of the best parts of the Seoul metropolitan area, in my opinion. |

Yeah, I really wanna check out Bundang. Where is the Homeplus? I've only seen E-Mart in Yongin. |
