Having a car (or motorbike) is like Prozac for your soul. When its rainy, you can just jump in and drive to the coast and watch the rain pour down on the windscreen listening to pink floyd - thats freedom... |

Yes... It is indeed, thanks for the idea. Havent heard dark side in years... I might actually enjoy that more than looking at legs,... |

some of my best memories in korea have been when ive just picked up my keys and ridden my motorbike off into the distance. There are always family mart type places, petrol stations and love motels anywhere you care to go, so you dont even need to think about packing ( just some fresh undies and a battery charger for your ipod).
i once set off and rode almost 2000 kms over the course of a few days, just because i could.
nothing gay about that, thats freedom mate 
(if id done it on a harley, that would have been proper gay)

Dark side is timeless.
Theres a lot to be said about looking at legs though, especially to the soundtrack of your choice... |

Only if it was some fruity chopper or newfangled piece of crap. A classic Harley is about as awesome as it gets in my books.
And I hope you weren't doing that big 2000 kilometer trip on a dinky little 125cc. I've done a few trips here on those and they were inherently, um, as andrewchon phrased it, gay. |

No, I did my bigger trips on a bigger engine (which were ironically less comfortable than the 125s but covered the distance, quicker.).
Anyways, some of those little 125 types are so much fun!, especially the little chicken chasers ( i know theyre 110 but ). My mate rode one right across S.E. asia and loved every minute.
I used to adore my old 'magma'. We ( the motorbike group) had some great trips out together on the weekends to the islands, we all had 125s so we just cruised along, enjoying the ride, hit the beach, drink some beers. Happy times man!
They're good little motors, and really comfortable if you have someone/ something to learn back on over long distances. I never once had a break down. Id definitely consider getting one back home if money was tight.
I know youre only kidding (probably) but we should always appreciate even a scooter for what it is - it may not be pretty but its still freedom.
(And Harley's are the most gay bikes to have ever existed. Have you seen the attire/uniform that people wear with them?

Id rather walk backwards with my leg in plaster carrying a 40 inch TV than ride one - thus earning me the title 'hypocrite' for what I've just said about scooters). that south park episode really opened my eyes to that - Hallelulia!)

Yeah I had to take a faux swipe for the Harley bash haha
My only problem with cruising in Korea on a 125 is that they don't really have enough kick for the mountainous bits, it's a wee bit of a struggle to get them up and over.

I grew up around proper bikers and not the weekend warrior types. I don't want to open up the video since I'm in the office but I'm assuming it's weekend warriors in chaps haha. My "stepfather" used to put bikes together in the garage from scratch.
But I mean, even though he happens to ride Harleys, it did instill a healthy respect for motorcycles in general with me. Any crisp, classic-style bike will do. I used to ride a Mirage 125 here, and was completely pleased with the bike aesthetically (although it did break down on quite a few occasions!).
I tried watching Orange County Choppers for a brief period. God those bikes were hideous. |

I always liked first thing in the morning for that. Get out of the city and avoid the traffic, suns coming up, its starts getting warm so you have to stop by a roadside store, get some snacks and a coffee, put on your sunglasses and peel back some layers, crank up the tunes, rev your engine and off you go... |

I know, they were good bikes - the proper choppers. 
I think the real problem with those kinds of bikes is the identity. That kind of bike to me is always synonymous with 'the open road' and nothing but your blanket rolled up by your saddle bag, and the wind in your face. I think that really suits north america/australia, especially with all the long, straight desert and mountain roads. They are cruisers, and where better to do it!
Here, they just seem as you said, weekend warrior-ish. They look really out of place and not doing what they were made to do. The clothes they wear don't help either, its like an audition for a Black Sabbath, porn video. lol
I know what you mean about the 125 engines, 2 up and you've got some real problems! Ive had a few tongue in cheek moments were we started rolling backwards on the way up to some temple or other, haha |
