I am about to complete my contract at a public school far from major cities. Well, I have been applying to lots of schools and recruiters in the hope of landing a job somewhere like Seoul, Incheon, Gyeong gi Do, Daegu, etc.
I applied to Pagoda's Adult Section and they seem keen on me.
I really enjoy teaching adults. But what is Pagoda's adult hagwon like? What is their schedule like? Is it split shifts? In Pagoda, I would have to work Saturdays on 2 months a year. I did not know this till I looked at their F.A.Q. section today. That makes me a bit less keen. With Direct English it would be 2 Saturdays of every month.
Just what is their adult hagwon like/ Have any of you worked there before?

The one in Yoido, Seoul was rumored to be managed by a somewhat nice person when my friend worked there in 2007. Apply directly to that branch and try to talk to the manager there.

I don't think the hourly pay is very much. Less than CDI for sure.

Is Pagoda the school in which the owner paid a hit man to smug out her husband? I think there's a court case going on at the moment. Sounds like a great place to work.

I have never worked there, but one of my friend's did last year. She taught Adults. It was hard work and the schedule wasn't exactly good. She had a split schedule. Some of the adults spoke good English though (mostly business clients) She is back in America. I can try to tell her to look here on Dave's and write a general review of her experience for you. But overall, I got the feeling it was like CDI in management style.

I was offered a job there but had to give it a pass because I had to be available to work from 7am til 10pm at nite. I was assured and reassured I would never actually have to work the whole day straight, but that isnt the point. I've worked splits before and became a zombie after a few weeks, even with my 7 hour break in the middle of the day (11am-6pm break). Pagoda is much worse because you need to be available the whole friggin' day. And it changes every day. I'd only take the job in order to find a better job in Seoul.

Thanks for your replies about Pagoda. I have had the initial interview with Pagoda, and am not so keen as I was.
Why?
During the interviewer they let slip a few details that told me that the information on their website was incorrect. Shocked That's a bad sign. I think I read that the earliest class would be 9 a.m. The interviewer said 7 a.m.
That's an issue for me.
