I am going to Andong on Saturday and staying over. Anyone know a good area to go out in, one where foreigners hang out...and hopefully where there are motels...
thanks... |

I cant help you with the other, but I visited there 2 years back on my motorbike and remember there were motels central-ish.
If you come out of the main bus station and turn right, there were some up there just off the main street. Nothing special but I only paid about 30,000 for the room. |

The bus station is no longer in the heart of the town. It's way out in on the edge. Get a taxi and tell them to go somewhere near HomePlus (that's where the old bus station used to be), or Andong Station. |

I know it's kinda late for this weekend trip, but Andong is well known for traditional Korean cultural touring more than a place for foreign international things like we go to Itaewon and Hongdae, Seoul to enjoy where the entire rest of the country is just typical usual Korean stuff. Andong has the Hahae traditional village of thatch roof mud huts, arts like the wooden mask dances to express grievances, and original soju which is a clear grain alcohol sorta like vodka. The backpacker hostels on hostelworld.com in Seoul can be a cool way to hang out with others where you have snapshot friendships, but you are on your own in the rest of the country. |
