Bad news for Atkins and Paleo diet lovers: The evidence is piling up that eating meat (at least lots of it) is about as healthy as smoking cigarettes. I don't have the source, but I'm sure it can be found on the internet.

Its been all over the news the last 2 weeks.

Its not really news though is it, that a fad diet isnt as good as its cracked up to be.

Its like saying 'And today theres going to be some weather Very Happy !'

Please tell us something we dont already know (by default of common sense) researchers and reporters.

Lol. Read more than headlines. The study most ppl refer to is a survey of sick peoples habits. Researchers decided eating pepperoni pizza should be recorded in the 'meat' category. Critical thinking please. Read studies above and then open your mouth.

People are starting to realize the sheet that was pulled over their heads.
Eating lots of sick animals might make you sick. Eat healthy animals stupid.

World isn't flat anymore. We figured that shit out. Think for yourself.

You are Died By Bear/Hockie21/Titus. It's a no brainer. Nobody else on this forum would be dumb enough to use "My Bad" instead of the usual My fault, mistake. Seeing you writing that is not stalking. All three of you also make posts that are focused on race and ethnic identity, or one ethnic group for one country etc.

For 5 months now, with the first two months of moderate exercise (swimming but then I stopped), Ive gone down a shirt size (L to M, XL to L Asian size) and am down from a 35 to a 33 regular (still wear 34 though) by. Feel great, my biggest was about 107.5 kilos, and now, I havent weighed myself but Im guessing about 95kg, maybe less.

Eating fresh, alot of raw fruits, breakfast is almonds and fruits and some yogurt or soy milk now. Snacks are the same.

I eat steak 2/3 times a week.
No stick coffee, drink soy milk or oolong tea. Only black Americanos, no sugar.

I think this is Paleo. Im not trying to follow anything, my whole goals is at 41, I was sick of eating garbage. I loist my taste for alot of the stuff. Now, I cant eat a donut or a hamburger (maybe once a month burger). They just dont taste "right" to me anymore.
Candy bars too.

The roasted veggie burrito at Dos Tacos is soooooo good, though.

I went to that BlackSmith place last month, I felt sick afterwards. I like pasta, etc, but it just tasted so....heavy.

I felt it was good to train myself on fresh, raw foods.

Now, I love the stuff. Downside is I think I spend an extra $50-100 a month, haha.

BUT, its the best use of my money Ive spent. I love eating fresh now.

Now, Im not very active, Im not so keen on exercise, but I have 2 bodybuilder friends and they say I need a bit of weight training, so thats my next step.

Like I said, didnt want a diet, i wanted a new lifestyle, and I got it. I feel so light, especially inside. I didnt know the extra weight had extra emotions with me, for me.

Maybe someone can dig that.

Yeah, eating a high protein diet is unhealthy. It can even be fatal. Google "rabbit starvation".

5 months? Yeah, dieting works in the short run. Very few people can maintain a significant weight loss over a 5 year period. Eventually, your body will make hormonal adjustments in response to a low caloric intake. When that happens you'll experience intense cravings for all the food you've been trying to avoid and find it very difficult to not gain weight. That's what the literature on the subject says. Raw foods aren't really healthier. Your body absorbs more nutrients from cooked foods.

What can we learn from the Paleo Era? That if you spend much of life living on the verge of starvation and die before you're 40 then you'll avoid the disease of old age and not get fat?

Like I said, eating a good amount still, just healthy choices. No starving at all. I eat cooked too, and I eat out a lot. I just make healtheir choices. No fried, little bread, reduced sugar. Thats all. Its not rocket science, I think.

Nice! I saw this awhile back but lost the link.

Now, how about a free-standing pull-up/dip bar for my apartment? I've been considering a DIY jungle gym cobbled from pipes or maybe even a little kid's swingset.

And to all of you guys on here going on and on about how bad paleo is... just go away. Seriously, if you want to eat batter-fried Snickers bars and wash it down with Mountain Dew then rock on with your pre-diabetic landwhale selves. Eating fresh food is logically more healthy. Eating less processed food is logically more healthy. Not everyone on a paleo diet is out there subsisting solely on steaks.

The most important thing to do for your diet is skip the fads and start eating more complex carbohydrates like beans, potatoes, whole wheat and semolina. There's no fad there. You have to consume a little meat or milk to make all the proteins coming from vegetables complete. Of course it is better to use yogurt or kefir than milk.
