There wasn't anyone in Uljin and Gyeongsanbuk provice to get help from. In any Asian country, it's true that relations count and contracts don't so I bugged out on Wednesday, but none of us couldn't ever imagine pulling a runner or being treated fouly since I had a good three years in Korea prior. Cry me a Han river of tears over my inferiority complexes. lol
Tompatz is right, they can't stop you as long as you didn't do any crime and running from it. If I had waited longer to take excellence in flight, the vixens would had cooked up a plan to lie to the police or immigration about something as to get me stopped with BS fees or fines. I was terrified I'd be stopped, missed flight, wallet drained, and then be eating the most basic Korean food in some lock down for an eternity, but I was free to move about the cabin, rightfully so. I just told immigration I'm finished and not returning so they can keep was card and she stamped out with my exit pass.

Ive heard a few stories of co-teachers. Koreans can be bad teachers like us waygookins
BUT they are not your boss.
ONLY deal with the boss. Even if they dont speak English, go to them. |

You'll be affecting any future EPIK employment and, perhaps, employment with private schools. It won't affect your future entry otherwise.

That greatly depends on what they tell the POE/MOE was the reason for the OP's departure. Since obviously they aren't going to admit they are at fault they are as likely as not to make up some B.S story that has immigration denying him future visas.
Similar situations have happened before and could well happen again.
But yes I should have said "COULD" instead of "will". |

I would never have expected that to happen in a public school in Korea. My complaints are NOT about school. It's the lack of social life. If I were you, I would be contacting the Board of Education, to ask them what your rights are. If you just quit, you may be barred from working in Korea at all for several years. Seriously man, what are you a man or a girlie girl? Make nice for another month, then stick to your contract for the last two. Tell the co teacher to leave you alone. argue with her every step of the way and don't make it seem like you're not renewing. Make her think you plan on teaching again. She'll focus all her energies into giving you a bad review. Sounds like a b!tch and a bad school. Sometimes, it happens. They just want to critise you repeadetly because their life sucks and they can't take it out on their Korean co-teachers. But because you're not Korean and have no power to fight back in their eyes, you've become thepunching bag.
Be polite, ignore, keep doing what you're doing, and stall for another few weeks. Try to get towards the end of your 10th month then take all remaining sick days, go home earlies, walk out of the class when she starts dissing you. Firing in the 11th month is illegal. Then you will have your revenge and she can't do eff all to you. Don't give her the satisfaction of quitting. Spend your last 5 weeks being a total d bag to her and everyone else. Be very vocal about getting your severance on the last day.
You're stupid to leave as you're forfeiting your airfare and severance. Put up with the crap, then slowly take a day off here and there. But, use the most during your last five weeks. Scream and yell back at her and give her hell. She can't fire in the 11th month. Even if she tries to write you up, you simply rip it up and don't sign anything or admit to anything.
I had a physco school my first year, though I switched the second semester, but the review was pretty slanted. I felt a similiar situation to you. Thankfully, at the time, they use to be more desperate for teachers and I was renewed by the ed office anyhow as it took them months to find teachers. Haven't had a school that nasty since. Anyways, I feel for you. Just stick it out and then take revenge at the end. |

Yeah man, man up, tell em to F+++ off politely (passive aggressively is the local style) and do your work, and TALK TO YOUR FREAKIN BOSS! This is no time to beta out just because someome doesnt like the whitey.
Dont do anything revenge-y. Go ABOVE them. The Boss, the co-t didnt hire you, did they. |

Your advice is too late. I guess you didn't notice that the OP already did a runner- a few days after his co-teacher told him to quit. I guess he wasn't willing to stick it out for 3 more months.

Unless he's an exceptional teacher with a great local rep in his area, I doubt the boss is going to listen to him over a Korean.
The OP did quit because he's a dummy.
Other newbies, bury this conversation deep in your subconscious. Should you find yourself in a similiar situation, follow this advice and carry on. |

I hope you're still at the school. This is one of the problems with the Public School System, people thinking your co-teacher is your boss. Your co-teacher is not your boss and does not decide if you leave or stay. It's either the school principal or vice principal or perhaps even the county English superintendent. Stay at your school, if you're lucky they'll get rid of her or him. |
