Now, how about a free-standing pull-up/dip bar for my apartment? |
A definite yes. Arguably the simplest and best piece for upper body dev. |

For 5 months now, with the first two months of moderate exercise (swimming but then I stopped), Ive gone down a shirt size (L to M, XL to L Asian size) and am down from a 35 to a 33 regular (still wear 34 though) by. Feel great, my biggest was about 107.5 kilos, and now, I havent weighed myself but Im guessing about 95kg, maybe less.
Eating fresh, alot of raw fruits, breakfast is almonds and fruits and some yogurt or soy milk now. Snacks are the same.
I eat steak 2/3 times a week.
No stick coffee, drink soy milk or oolong tea. Only black Americanos, no sugar.
I think this is Paleo. Im not trying to follow anything, my whole goals is at 41, I was sick of eating garbage. I loist my taste for alot of the stuff. Now, I cant eat a donut or a hamburger (maybe once a month burger). They just dont taste "right" to me anymore.
Candy bars too.
The roasted veggie burrito at Dos Tacos is soooooo good, though.
I went to that BlackSmith place last month, I felt sick afterwards. I like pasta, etc, but it just tasted so....heavy.
I felt it was good to train myself on fresh, raw foods.
Now, I love the stuff. Downside is I think I spend an extra $50-100 a month, haha.
BUT, its the best use of my money Ive spent. I love eating fresh now.
Now, Im not very active, Im not so keen on exercise, but I have 2 bodybuilder friends and they say I need a bit of weight training, so thats my next step.
Like I said, didnt want a diet, i wanted a new lifestyle, and I got it. I feel so light, especially inside. I didnt know the extra weight had extra emotions with me, for me.
Maybe someone can dig that. |
Sounds like a lot of positive change. Ppl often hear 'diet' and they thing of caloric restriction. The real meaning is simply 'the food we eat'. Keep trying new things, stick with what works, drop what doesn't. A few things to help you along your way:
1. Protein in the AM is critical. Consume 40g for you within 45 minutes of rising and it'll make a world of difference for body composition.
2. Avoid soy and grains. This is well understood stuff. Soy is #1 GMO in the world. Grains lead to different degrees of inflammation in diff ppl, but always negative. Don't get sucked into mkt. I can hook you up w/ real research if you want. Do it. You won't regret it. And hey if the off chance you decide you want them back, it's up to you. Again try everything, see what works.
3. Get body fat down before starting any major stregth training regiment. Hormones need to be in balance for effective success. A bit of low level ex is fine. But to find long-term success it's best to get your fat down, maintain that fat level, allow your hormones to adjust to optimal levels, and then bring on a strength training plan.
4. Supplement with fish oil, vit d3, magnesium.

I don't think I'll try to reason with you on this one. However you know the little pig in your profile avatar looks pretty tasty. A "Paleo" dieter would love to have something like that. |

Clint. Try not eating grains and dairy for a month. You'd be surprised. Then u can come back and say "hey ive been on both sides so i can speak intelligently about it." And if things work out,.. then great! Win Win! |

This.
I could easily debate on whether wheat is good for you or not, since I know I would win. I suspect that young_clinton knows this too, hence the reluctance to go toe-to-toe. |

Of course, whole wheat isn't good for you. I eat it all the time and I can tell you my health is terrible. I will regret having eaten it when I'm dead. |

Sounds like a tip from the latest fad diet. There is no reason your body can't make use of protein if you consume it later in the day.

Avoid grains because a small percentage of the population is allergic to gluten? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

This is definitely bad advice. Putting on body fat puts you in the right hormonal state to put on muscle. It's called bulking up in bodybuilding. You definitely don't want to be cutting calories if you want to gain muscle.

Not a good idea. Fish oil in capsules is likely to be rancid. |
